Re the meaning of your internet name

Postby calvin on Mon Nov 08, 2004 10:39 am

I use the name "calvin" because . . . that's what it is!

However, I am seriously considering changing it because:

1. The 3rd discussion board I tried to register on didn't register me, so I emailed the owner. He told me to change my name to anything but calvin! . . . . obviously he was an Arminian and the name pressed his hot button . . . needless to say I did not try to re-register.

2. My very first post was on a partial preterist site and because I made the claim that JP II was the numbered beast and not their Nero, I got roasted.

3. I recently found an historicist discussion board (not too many of those around). I registered as "calvin" and was able to login . . . for one day and then I was cut off. I emailed the owner and explained what happened. He asked if I was calvin from Canada and I responded that I was. He then politely explained that another "calvin" from Canada had caused a lot of trouble in the past and he was banned.

I am happily registered there now, and happily registered here. But, I understand that one of the new moderators here is a real tiger (tigress?) so I may have to watch my P's and Q's.

I cannot divulge her name, but her initials are s-h-a-n-n-a

Still luv ya! . . . and, still calvin

Calvin-

Your entrenchment in reformed theology led me to believe that you were using the name "Calvin" after John Calvin, like when Bill Waterson named his character "Calvin" from Calvin and Hobbes. My brother-in-law thought it was hilarious that he named the teacher "Ms. Wormwood" after Wormwood from the Screwtape Letters.

So it's really Calvin? Alright!
My name

Postby BluntedReality on Tue Dec 07, 2004 9:30 pm
Blunted Reality came to mind once.. Because I came to the conclusion that people who suffer from depression actually suffer from Reality... The Reality of the World in it's current state is depressing and I believe my depression was sent by God, causing me to come to the reality that in Him is the only real Hope. The rest of the world is in this Blunted Reality... But to them, it's me in a Blunted Reality.

Pretty corny I know.. But that's the meaning behind my name. As for Truelife the other internet name I used, I think any Christian can explain to you what True Life is.
Re: My name

Postby mouserpg88 on Wed Dec 08, 2004 7:48 am

Mine, hmm.. long story.

Before I knew the Lord, I was in chat rooms causing trouble with friends of mine. We were making it harder for the admins, and swearing up and down. We felt we were treated unfairly, but in reality, it was us being unfair (we were young and dumb).

I did a whois on one of the admins, and saw like mouse@axon.net. I tried to impersonate him by signing on as his nickname and using mouse@axon.net as my email.

Didn't work, but I decided to keep that nickname, because I liked it.

I went to gay chatrooms to cause trouble, etc... but I noticed there were people in there telling them to turn to God. I agreed and liked what they were doing, so I did the same as those people (this was before Jesus found me), and told everyone that God loves them. I got into a chat with one of them in private, they were crying, telling me that God hates them, but I kept saying that God loved them. She was arguging with me, telling me that God hated her, etc... but I kept telling her that God loved her. She was crying and telling me thanks, etc... I hope she wasn't led astray or anything. I seriously hope the Lord had me in there for a reason that day, a good reason.

Shortly later, I went to a Jesus chat room. You know, I was afraid of the Bible. I knew it was the truth, and I'd look at it with fear and be afraid to open it.

Some woman prayed for me in front of me, in private. I was freaking out, pretending to be afraid of her, or weirded out. I called her crazy, etc... but in reality, I knew it was the truth, however, I was afraid of the truth.

Then one day, I went to another server, and talked with some people. They corrected me and I cried in prayer to the Lord, for Him to help me, to save me, to live in my heart, etc... the next day, I woke up feeling great. I was so happy, like a huge burden was lifted off of me. I felt forgiven. The Lord began working in my life so much, and it just snuck up on me. Before I realized it, I was changed dramatically.

Glory be to Him, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!

I went to university in saskatchewan. It snowed a lot there, so I was going to make my name snowstorm. I tried all the combo's I could think of that sounded cool. snowstorm, icestorm, nightstorm, daystorm, hehe. nothing worked. I began thinking that my life and my faith were very unclear at the time, and how I needed to tune in to God to get my life on track, and I began thinking about a television set that has static on it, and you need to move the antenna ( well you did when I was a kid ) to make the static go away and get a clear picture. Hagiazo... it's Greek, pronounced, hag-ee-ad'-zo; from G40. hagios, hag'-ee-os; from hagos (an awful thing) sacred (phys. pure, mor. blameless or religious, cer. consecrated):--(most) holy (one, thing), saint. Also to make holy, i.e. (cer.) purify or consecrate; (mentally) to venerate:--hallow, be holy, sanctify.

Just a name to remind myself to remain set appart for Him no matter where I am or what I am doing and, I like the sound of it.

Re: The meaning of your Internet name

Postby monkeyweather on Mon Jan 31, 2005 8:51 pm

My name was supposed to be for a horse. Sort of.

A friend of mine had a horse, who had a baby (okay, I guess I should say foal, not "baby" hehe). Loveliest little thing!

She asked some people what she should name it.

I said "Gorilla Monsoon", for no reason in particular. It just struck me

She opted for something a bit more...lyrical

A group of friends of mine and myself wanted to make a little online groupy kinda thing so we wouldn't always have to email eachother individually - like, CC to you and CC to you and CC to you. I still had the tragically UNUSED name Gorilla Monsoon floating around so I made a group for us by that handy name!

One of our members got confused and called it "that monkeyweather thingy" and then I had TWO perfectly good names to hijack for other purposes.

So I was supposed to be a baby horse, and then someone got the name wrong and I am just monkeyweather

I just looked through this whole thread and I can't find the reason for your internet name. Did you ever give it?

Also, I have been wondering how to pronounce your name. I know how to pronounce Juanita, but not Jaunita. Is it exactly the same? Let me know.
Hi Orange...yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm in here somewhere...

My name, is the same as Juanita...just the 'a' before the 'u'...
My mothers fault. lol!! When asked in the hospital what my name was, she spelled it Jaunita...so I was stuck.

As far as Kentucky Hunter...I don't hunt myself, but have been surrounded all my life, by the men that do, 3 brothers, 3 sons, and numerous Uncles and cousins.
I've cleaned my share of Squirrel's and Rabbits. ...cooked them up too.

My families nickname for me is actually PJ....don't ask!
