1 John 4:15-19
15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
16 We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
17 By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world.
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.
19 We love, because He first loved us.
John 3:16-18
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
17 “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
18 “He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Hebrews 13:20-21
20 Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord,
21 equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Romans 3:10-12 - New American Standard Bible (NASB)
10) As it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one; 11) There is none who understands,
There is none who seeks for God; 12) All have turned aside, together they have become useless; There is none who does good, There is not even one.”
Romans 3:-
3:1 Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the benefit of circumcision? 2 Great in every respect. First of all, that they were entrusted with the oracles of God. 3 What then? If some did not believe, their unbelief will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it? 4 May it never be! Rather, let God be found true, though every man be found a liar, as it is written,
"That Thou mightest be justified in Thy words,
And mightest prevail when Thou art judged."
5 But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? The God who inflicts wrath is not unrighteous, is He? (I am speaking in human terms.) 6 May it never be! For otherwise how will God judge the world? 7 But if through my lie the truth of God abounded to His glory, why am I also still being judged as a sinner? 8 And why not say (as we are slanderously reported and as some affirm that we say), "Let us do evil that good may come"? Their condemnation is just.
9 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin; 10 as it is written,
"There is none righteous, not even one;
11 There is none who understands,
There is none who seeks for God;
12 All have turned aside, together they have become useless;
There is none who does good,
There is not even one."
13 "Their throat is an open grave,
With their tongues they keep deceiving,"
"The poison of asps is under their lips";
14 "Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness";
15 "Their feet are swift to shed blood,
16 Destruction and misery are in their paths,
17 And the path of peace have they not known."
18 "There is no fear of God before their eyes."
19 Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may become accountable to God; 20 because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.
21 But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25 whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; 26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. 27 Where then is boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith. 28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, 30 since indeed God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith is one.
31 Do we then nullify the Law through faith? May it never be! On the contrary, we establish the Law.

I really don't think anyone can honestly say that they have a motivation to please God.
If they feel that it's them, then wouldn't they be taking the Glory from the Holy Spirit doing His Work?Romans 3:10-12 - New American Standard Bible (NASB)
10) As it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one; 11) There is none who understands,
There is none who seeks for God; 12) All have turned aside, together they have become useless; There is none who does good, There is not even one.”
But I would go a step farther and say that it is Christ in me that motivates me to please God.Hebrews 13:20-21
Amen.
The Bible says that we are His workmanship, created in Christ, to walk in the works that God prepared for us to accomplish (Eph 2:8-10). And also that He will complete the work He began in us (Phil 1:6).
We are only able to please God when we are inspired or motivated by His Holy Spirit who is at work in us, He purifies, He sanctifies, He equips me and motivates me to righteousness. My role is to yield to the work of His Spirit in me. I can do nothing at all that is pleasing to the Lord without Him working in me to accomplish it.
So He is the source of my motivation, as I yield to the work of His Holy Spirit to sanctify me.
The sad truth is that I do not want to please the Lord, but He wants me to, and He is at work in me to motivate me to do that which is pleasing to Himself.
sacredcowbasher wrote:The best thing that can happen to a newly born christian is to be discipled by christians who know how to live a victorious life. It is critical to the well being of a follower of Jesus Christ.
When we are not discipled properly, not being taught the right way to live for God, we will automatically move into erroneous ways, methods, routines, formulas, doctrines, etc. Some of which include religious activity like witnessing (whether we really want to or not), church attendance (if we think that makes us right with God), bible reading (if we think that makes us right with God), prayer (if we think that prayer will give us victory).
It's meaning is this: When we have been born again, it is natural for us to continue living in the same vein as we did our whole life. This method is based on our performance; when we do good we are rewarded. We carry this over into our walk with the Lord and many results follow with spiritual laws coming into effect.
Discipleship is lacking so greatly in churches today because leadership can only tell people what they should do and can't tell them how to do it. It is so simple that we stumble over it. It is the offense of the cross that takes place in many churches today. Not the offense for salvation, but for sanctification (how we live out our lives on a day to day basis).
