Tiny spy planes could mimic birds, insects

You'll never look at hummingbirds the same again.

The Pentagon is pouring millions of dollars into the development of tiny drones inspired by biology, each equipped with video and audio equipment that can record sights and sounds.

Yes,

An interesting technology. I keep watching these, wondering, when we will come across one that looks like a locusts and can deliver an infection through a needle (like a scorpion sting) that causes sores to to develop. It would be a good way to incapacitate and enemy without having to kill them.

I see this technology as being a good delivery system for bioligical warfar. They would have to be able to distinguish between the good guys and the bad guys so some sort of identifier would have to exist on the good guys.

I'm wondering if maybe I've seen one of these.

I was in La Habra, and I saw what looked like a hummingbird, except that it was about twice the size. It was just hovering motionless about 40 ft up, then took off over the rooftop in a straight line.

It looked just like a hummingbird, but it was too large, and it's motion was odd.

Things that make you go "hmmmm" . . .

 burien.

And those netted butterfly catchers? We may be trying to use these and find ourselves flying away somewhere over the rainbow.

Oh the times we live in. Isn't there also some sort of "bug" drone that is already created? Seems like the subject has been broached before but it's late and ..... anyway, maybe I'm reliving a transformers scene? :bag:

Found this interesting too...
The Singularity Movement is predicting an immortal future for humanity
http://www.pntoday.com/2011/03/01/the-s ... -humanity/
“This is coming,” Snyder said. “This is something I can believe in.”

Organizations such as NASA and Google along with people like Kurzweil and Peter Thiel, a former CEO of PayPal, have set up institutions to study this movement. The Singularity University and a Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence were set up for people to study AI to hopefully create and understand hyper-intelligent artificial intelligences.

Today, AIs are only able to master one very specific domain such as answering search questions, like Google, and playing strategy games like chess or checkers. They can’t evaluate ethical situations or make clever remarks at parties.

These AI are intelligent but not in the way Kurzweil wants them to be. Kurzweil wants to be able to have strong AIs.

Strong AIs are defined as artificial thought processes that are equal to or exceed that of human brain. These AIs can reason, represent knowledge, plan, learn, and apply the listed skills to set and complete goals. Strong artificial intelligences would most likely be sentient, to be aware and conscious of emotions and thoughts, although it is impossible to say whether the machines would feel.
Exalt the Lord our God and worship at His holy mountain, for the Lord our God is holy.

Reminds me of a Tom Selleck movie I saw a long time ago. They were robot "spiders" that injected poisin. Gene Simmons was the bad guy.
