Although it is not stated here emphatically it looks like the S188T and the S186P markers are becoming predominant and it is suggested they are volatile and resistant to treatment. Then they are suggesting a third wave of Swine flu outbreak is possible because of this, as found in a related article.
Just my take.

For the first time in my life I have gone an entire cold/flu season (so far) without catching cold... and it seems to knock my allergies down for 3-5 days also.

So, if we were dumb enough to rush out and get a dangerous vaccination for the "original" Swine Flu, is that vaccination no longer any good cuz of these marker changes?
As for the original vaccination no longer being good, no information was provided in the teeny bit of research I saw, so anything I would say about it would be speculation. I am thinking though, do we need to get one every year ? If so, they may have come up with a newer more effective vacc for this particular strain already. But then, they don't even have a name for this strain yet, so maybe it is in the beginning stages of it's mutation, and not yet widespread enough to make the vaccine. I am not knowledgeable about these things, don't ever get these shots, preferring to bop around in my little world oblivious to it's dangers, or what they say they are. Lol. More research is necessary I would think.

Hey SueAnn, you are too cute yourself. As for the original vaccination no longer being good, no information was provided in the teeny bit of research I saw, so anything I would say about it would be speculation. bchandler wrote:Again, for all you people who are exposed daily... vitamin D is better at preventing winter time illnesses than ANY vaccine... minimum 5000 units of D3 per day.
If you are sick with a cold or flu, you can drastically reduce symptoms by taking 5000 units twice to 3 times per day.
Vitamin D will help to regulate the cytokine immune response (called a cytokine storm) and prevent the respiratory problems associated with colds and flu that actually kill people.
If you have a nice greenhouse porch that doesn't filter UVB radiation, then you could alternately just lay out in the sun, with as much skin exposure as possible in the winter, in order to "make your own" vitamin D.
D should usually be taken with a calcium:magnesium:boron supplement at a ratio of 2:1:trace respectively. Or just make sure you are eating calcium rich non-dairy foods.

David, I have never gotten a flu shot, either. They scare me. And as for "bopping", since I am probably bigger than you, does that make me "The BIG Bopper?"![]()
