Yeshayahu’s vision of the nations thronging to the Temple Mount in the Final Days - “And it shall come to pass in the end of days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established at the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it” (Yeshayahu 2:2) - does not state that the nations will come to the Mount in order to receive the Torah as Jews. Yeshayahu spoke of the gathering of the nations to Jerusalem, to the Temple Mount, in order to encounter the one God and to receive instructions and guidance from him.

Does anyone else find this paragraph from Israel Knohl a little creepy:Yeshayahu’s vision of the nations thronging to the Temple Mount in the Final Days - “And it shall come to pass in the end of days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established at the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it” (Yeshayahu 2:2) - does not state that the nations will come to the Mount in order to receive the Torah as Jews. That sounds a lot more like the AC standing in the place where he does not belong - and creating one world religion. I find it disturbing that this guy quotes Yeshayahu like we might the bible by chapter and verse.
Ok now I'm really embarassed that I didn't catch that. I guess I won't miss that again after BSF study next year, which I just learned today is a year of Isaiah. Flipping to that chapter now - I still think this guys opinion on the temple mount is creepy.

Justasheep wrote:Yes, I'm very excited about. This is my second year doing BSF - the life of Moses was eye opening for me, studying the Gospel of John has been a huge boost to my confidence it witnessing to the lost, and I can't wait for Isaiah.
Unrelated side note- when we were working together at the table on the lesson on John 3 my six year old son, who is doing the childrens study with me and his 8 year old brother, sat back from the table, bowed his head and asked if we could take a break from the study because he needed to pray to ask Jesus into his heart. One of the most moving and memorable moments of my life, after my own coming to Christ 3 months before he was born.
What I learn from my gaff above - since I get to communicate frequently with a few friends of mine who are observant jews, is to make sure I have a better handle on the hebrew names of the books of the Bible, and more of the relevant hebrew terms. I really really want to start learning biblical hebrew at some point - anyone have any good suggestions or programs they recommend?
