Truthinlove:

I don't think so

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anytime I hear the argument that Daniel 9:27 is about Jesus and not the antichrist, they ONLY quote the first half of the verse, that is a red flag to me.
Especially when reading the ENTIRE verse. Lets look....

"He will confirm a covenant with many for one seven. In the middle of the seven he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple, he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him."
The "he" is the 2nd part of the verse is the same "he" as the first part.

If it was Jesus, we are to believe that Jesus set up an abomination that causes desolation!!??

I can't believe that.

I see where they are coming from when they use only the first part of the verse, but it needs to be taken in context. And when it is, it seems to be it can NOT be talking about Jesus.

Well, what does everyone else think about this verse? Jesus or AC? Why?

Daniel 9

Postby njfishwatchTurkey&Isr on Mon Apr 28, 2008 8:24 am

"Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end {will come} with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.
"And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations {will come} one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate."

The people of the prince who is to come will destroy Jerusalem and the temple. The same prince will make a firm covenant with many for 7 years and after 3.5 years he will stop sacrifice and grain offering and the abomination of desolation will be set up.

Dan 11:31 "Forces from him will arise, desecrate the sanctuary fortress, and do away with the regular sacrifice. And they will set up the abomination of desolation.

Forces from who will do this? Dan 11:15 "Then the king of the North will come,

Daniel 11:31 describes exactly what Daniel 9:26-27 describes and it is not referring to Christ.

When does this occur?
Dan 12:11 "From the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation is set up, {there will be} 1,290 days.

Matches the timing given in Daniel 9 perfectly---midst of the 7 years

This cannot refer to Christ in any way.

Christ even referred to this abomination of desolation in Matthew 24.
