Nearer My God to Thee

Postby Tevye on Sat Jan 19, 2008 12:38 pm

(Circa.-1841)
Nearer My God to Thee
Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee
Even though it be a cross that raiseth me
Still all my songs shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee
Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer Thee

Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down
Darkness be over me, my rest a stone
Yet in my dreams I'd be nearer, my God, to Thee
Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee

Or, if on joyful wings cleaving the sky

Sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I'll fly
Still all my songs shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee
Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee

by: Sarah Fuller Flower Adams (1805-1848)

Proof of a pre-wrath/6th seal rapture view poem/song in the 1800's?

An article unfortuantely states she was a Unitarian
yet, was she possibly influenced by non-unitarians
in understanding the connection between
the 'sign' of Christ's second coming
and the rapture?

This song seems to say she was.

Or maybe she just had no idea
that she understood the truth
concerning His coming,
apart from being part of a fellowship
that did not view Jesus as God.

Could it be because,
the prevalent rapture view
of mainstream protestants (Christians)
in her time (the 1800's) was pre-wrath?

I believe it was.
(And should be today
if not fot the seed planted by the enemy,
in the 1800's by a different than above
spiritually mislead person,
and then cultivated on through to today
by a society and culture bent
on comfort and escapism.)

escapism
–noun
the avoidance of reality by absorption of the mind
in entertainment or in an imaginative situation, activity, etc.

Sound familiar?
(Fiction, rapture, escapism=wrong view of His return)

The decision is yours,
choose this day whom you will serve
a false christ in false/wrong doctrine or view
(depending on how you look at it)
or the true Christ in the true and faithful Word of God.

please note:
I did say serve not saved.
One can be saved and serve the wrong god.
If their eyes on not fixed on Christ alone.

Just imagine if you are looking for Jesus
to come before the 70th week of Daniel
(the tribulation as some call it)
and He actually will be coming
after the great tribulation
then who will it be
coming for you
before it all begins?
Could it be the deceiver and antichrist?
(For false christ and false prophets will arise to decieve even the elect...)
Considering the antichrist is the one to appear
before or at the begining of the great tribulation.

So, the question is
did the enemy of our soul and faith
plant a seed of false prophecy
in the 1800's by a person in delusion?

de·lu·sion
–noun
1. an act or instance of deluding.
2. the state of being deluded.
3. a false belief or opinion:
delusions of grandeur.
4. Psychiatry. a fixed false belief
that is resistant to reason or confrontation
with actual fact
: a paranoid delusion.

This seed planted has turn out to be
a full grown plant of deception in our time.
When he, the deciever, needs
the distraction from his plans
in this most critical coming time.
(The great tribulation)

You can be freed from the delusion
as others have joyfully done before
and it can only come
by seeking God in prayer.
(one to one, mano a mano with Jesus)
No matter the cost.

He is waiting.

Let go and then let Him set you free.

His truth will set you free.

With love in Christ Jesus.

Bless the Lord Yeshua!!
Glory to His name alone!!!

Though I fail
still you will carry me
though I am weak
you will always be my strength
though I can no longer stand
against the winds blown by the enemy
there you will fight the battle for me
because your love for me
will never end.
Thank you Father
Thank you Yeshua
Thank you Holy Spirit
Amen.

Glory to the Lord!

Dear Tevye,

Interesting observation about the hymn. I am always on the look out for "evidence" our early Christian brethren were not pretrib. Reading the Foxes Book of Martyrs it is clear that they believed they would see antichrist (to them it was the popes of Rome).

I totally concurr that it is the great and ultimate deception to have Christians believe that they will escape the "tribulation" and therefore not concern themselves with the details of prophecy.

That they will mistake antichrist for Christ and believe it is he who will deliver them seems evident. I think there will be mass confusion and this will result in "Christians" betraying one another:

And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

God help us!

Hello Patty,
I can see how the betrayal could play out
and it already is here.
There are some in the pre-trib camp
who are offended
(not necessarily here at FP)
by the pre-wrath/post trib view
and betray the truth Jesus taught
concerning His return
in all of us.
