Oh, me too!

The only thing I can remember right offhand is part of a silly song Groucho sang: "My name is Captain Spaulding, the African explorer, I'm really glad I came here, but I really must be going!"

Then there was something about how something would be bigamy: "But--that would be bigamy!" Groucho says something like "bigamy, big a you, big a both of us!"

"Close, but no cigar!"

Mel Brooks movies are just hilarious

Those were great! How about the part near the beginning, when Dr. Frankenstein is teaching in his classroom, and some student kept going on and on about Dr. F's grandfather's work, and he finally has heard enough and yells, "My grandfather's work was DOO-DOO!"--just as, in exasperation, as he slaps his thigh, he forgets he's holding a scalpel-- and sinks it deep into his thigh...... :faint:

Or the part where they're trying to figure out how the candle that controls the bookcase/secret door--the thing slams shut on Dr. F. and he manages to murmur "Put....the candle....back."

It's the opening day of trout season in Australia, and round after rousing round of Waltzing Matilda, sung by the chorus of revelers, fills the air, as a mask over their common fate of approaching radiation sickness, til in the quite, still of the night, a beautiful clear voice sings the thought that hangs in the backs of their minds,

"Up jumped the swagman, leapt into the billabong,
"You'll never catch me alive," said he,"

from On The Beach (1959)

. . . this always make me cry

Here's a good OLD FASHIONED ONE:

Remember The Lone Ranger & Tonto? The Ranger's famous line was:

"Yes, Kemmosabee"

We even had our ears pinned to that old radio listening to The LONG RANGER. It was a neat day with innocence and wholesomeness you rarely see today.

"Yes, but who wants diabetes." (FAME 1980)

This was said during a verbal judo match between two female dancers (one black and one white) while they were practicing ballet with a mutual male love interest. The black female dancer (Irene Cara) said to the white female dancer, "The darker the berry, the sweeter the juice," of course referring to herself as the best choice for the young male dancer's attention. Then without missing a beat, the white female dancer said, "Yes, but who wants diabetes."

Classic!

Wow, It's been so long since I have seen a movie... let me see...

In one of the Herbie movies, the little old lady was being driven by Herbie very fast to the top of a parking garage, and was being followed by the tycoon's guys in their long black car. They were phoning their boss, reporting what was going on...

"She's driving like a madman! She's going up, and up, and up!"

(My daughter uses that one on me sometimes.)

And,
From ...I think it was the same movie, or maybe it was another Herbie movie...
at a drive-in-diner,

The young lady looks desperately to the next vehicle, crying loudly: "I'm locked in! I can't get out!"

The hippies' reply:

"We all locked in, chicky baby, we all locked in!"

I hope nobody is bothered by this (although I must admit that I am a little bit, lol), but everytime I read in Genesis of Isaac and Rachel going to Egypt and he claims that she's his sister, but he spots them "cavorting," I just think of Ferris Bueller - "so THAT'S how it is in their family."

And now, unfortunately, so will you. Sorry about that.

Also, there was a line I remember from Jack Nicholson's Joker that resonated with me because it describes the way I can be sometimes - "I'm laughing on the outside, my smile is but skin deep. If you could see inside, I'm really crying, won't you join me for a weep?" Granted, it's maybe not as memorable as "How about a magic trick? I'm going to make this pencil disappear" but I liked it.
(Updated!) - Please pray for me - I very much need it

Also, (on a completely unrelated note to the prayer request) am I the only one annoyed with people labeling others as "false teachers" or "heretics" because they disagree with your timeline of events when according to Peter, even the prophets themselves didn't completely understand what they were writing? Debate is fine (and even fruitful at times), but let's save those labels for those who truly are false teachers and heretics (and in this day and age, there are plenty to choose from). As long as someone believes in a literal, future return of Christ, I'm fine with them.

Some of the best quotes come from Yoda....

“Remember, a Jedi's strength flows from the Force. But beware. Anger, fear, aggression. The dark side are they. Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny."

"Do or do not...there is no try" (one of my alltime faves...)

"Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering."

Luke: I can't believe it...
Yoda: That is why you fail.

Hmmm- can you tell I grew up in the 70's and 80's????
