Can the temple service start without the Ark of Covenant?

Is it absolutely required that Ark of the Covenant be present inside temple for the daily sacrifice to begin, or can it start without the Ark?

I don't know if I should be looking for the reappearance of the Ark.

Is it absolutely required?

Sacrifices should be able to be made without the ark of the covenant.

Sacrifices continued after the return from the Babylonian exile, but according to tradition, the ark disapeared sometime before or during big king Neb.'s war. So, up to the time of the Roman destruction in 70, sacrifices were being made. I think the last ark of the covenant mention in the Bible may just be in the book of Lamentations by writer Jeremiah.

I don't believe that the Jews currently have the ark of the covenant. If they did, the Temple association would most certainly make it known, as any piece of temple stuff at their disposal is used for purposes of a rebuilt temple.

Thank you BeTheMoon and ?

I thought it was necessary.

Come to think of it. God wouldn't let his Ark present in the temple while Israelites perform misguided daily sacrifices.

Maybe, the Ark of the Covenant is already in heaven.

If they did make it known, I think there is a good chance that they would have bounties on their heads.

They don't care about war or dying for their cause. The people at the Temple Institute are following some of the same prophecies that we are (atleast OT speaking), and know that about the time of the building of the temple, a war will inevidably break out in Israel, and God will intervene for them, either through his divine presence or the bringing of Messiah.

Now that the chief Rabbi (who just died) has declared that the Messiah is indeed on earth and that he had a chance to speak with him before his passing, many Orthodox Jews are becoming more agressive than ever at seeing that the throne of David is filled once more.

When I was in Israel last May, I had a chance to talk with some of the
Third Temple supporters. In a shop window, they had this picture of the Mosque, which said "before Gog," and then a third Ezekiel temple standing on the mount with captions stating "after Gog."

On the plus side, some of the Jews (but certainly not most) are desperate for their Messiah and want the Shikanah Glory returned to their sacred mount. On the down side, they believe they have to have a temple for the ultimate blesssing to come from God on them (the Messiah) and they have overlooked the S. Glory of the Holy Spirit reigning in believers of Christ.

I have no doubt that they would die for their cause. If they have the Ark of the covenant, making it known before the Temple was built would be a very bad move. It would put them and the Ark in danger. (Though, if the Ark still exists on this earth, I could see God protecting it... but who knows?)
