Question: The number of people knowing Solana here in the States is probably less than 3%.
Just pure guessing on your part what do you think the percentage would be there in Europe?

Me just guessing here. (based on a lot of asking in the last 3 years)
If I would ask
-who is in charge for EU Foreign Policy? MAX. 5 % would say: "Solana"
-who is General Secretary of the Council? max 1% would say "Solana"
-What is WEU? Max 5% would say "the EU defence organisation", rest: =95%"I don't know"
-boss of WEU? 0% would say "Solana"
-ever heard of Javier Solana? 30% "yes"
-What is his job? 20% Would say "something at NATO or EU"
-guess where does he come from? 50 % "don't know", 15%"Spain", 20% "Italy", 15%"Portugal?"

If would I ask students for International Relations the numbers would NOT be significantly higher.

wow! those #'s are low. 30% knowing who he is still quite low.
Would you say there are more people that would know who Chirac, Merkel and Blair than Solana?

Definitely - those names would rank (depending on the given country)
between 70-90 percent, I guess.
