My trip to Dallas Tx

My trip to Dallas Tx

Postby Lookfortruth on Wed Aug 16, 2006 11:12 pm

As many of you know, I had to make an emergency trip to Dallas Tx to help my daughter in the hospital. I had to drive from Phoenix AZ. Someday I will have to post my full testimony, but this is a small part of what my life is like, I had to share this story I posted on my own message board. Please enjoy the humor in it :)

My plan to leave was to pick up my rental car Sat afternoon and leave for Dallas at 3:00 AM Sun AM. My hope was to arrive in Dallas Sun PM. When I got to the rental car agency (not one I usually use) they denied my rental contract due to a credit score they ran! Have you ever heard of that? How they ran this by only my name and not my SS#, I cannot tell you, but they got a denial without explanation. I was car-less at that point, and located the nearest rental car center 9 blocks away and set off to walk there. It was Phoenix peak heat of the day, so when I got there I was very overheated. They were closed, but an agent was still there. I asked if he had a phone that I could use to call a cab. He cited me company policy and refused me! I walked to a nearby Albertons and found a phone. There was no phonebook so I decided to call home and have my husband call a cab for me. He called 2X with no cab showing up over an hour's time. By this time I was praying and really overheated despite buying a bottle of cold water. Suddenly out of nowhere, a cab from another company shows up. I looked at him and he at me and he stopped. I asked him if he had been called to which he replied no. I got in and went home. I called my regular rental place (the guy felt inspired to answer he told me later), and despite being closed, they answered the phone. I had been gone for 3 hrs! They picked me up at my home Sun AM. I should have known I was headed for warfare on this trip! I could not go via El Paso because the roads were flooded, so I went up through Flagstaff and over into Amarillo. This route yielded my arrival in Dallas on Mon around 2:00 PM. A few things happened to me on that leg of my Journey. The first was my Visa card suddenly started denying me! My bank office was closed so I called my husband and had him look at my balance online. Sure enough, I had plenty of money. Thank goodness I also had my other VISA from my other bank on me although I only use that one for paying bills.....it got me through until Mon AM when I called the bank. My card had been locked because of a mishap in Winslow AZ at a gas pump. When it appeared it had not gone through, I re-swiped it. Well it ad gone through and without pumping gas the first swipe it alerted the bank. I just went through a few security questions and it was restored for me. whewwwww.
Now this is the part of the trip that un-nerved me. Mon, at 1:00 AM local time in Amarillo, I was going off hwy 40 to get onto hwy 287 heading for Dallas via northern route. This required a jot downtown to enter the hwy. All the streets are deserted; all the traffic lights are flashing yellow. I start down the road when suddenly a light turns red......odd I think to myself. I come to a stop when I see a young african-american girl waving her arms and yelling. She heads for my car. My doors are locked and my window is up, she stops at my driver's window. She is shouting that she has to talk to me. She says she must tell me something. I sat there stunned as she turned nearly sideways and peered into my face, still chanting the same words......I have to talk to you, I must tell you something over and over again. She was probably on drugs, but anyone who has looked a demon in the face will know what I am talking about when I say, "the eyes were wrong". They had no pupils and you feel like you are looking into a black hole, empty and dead. All of a sudden she stands up straight (she had been twisting herself all around looking at me and writhing) and pulls up her shirt, pointing at her belly, which is swollen, to the size of about 4-5-mo. baby. I am pregnant she yells as if elated and excited. The hair on the back of my neck stood up, I felt severely nauseated. I gunned the accelerator and sped through the red light. It took me several hours to where I did not feel like my heart would leave my chest! When I got to Dallas, I parked my car in the hosp lot, called my daughter to let her know I was on my way up. I got out of my car and suddenly it began downpouring and lightning crashing down all around me. Dallas had not seen rain in months! I make it to the hosp entrance, stop at McDonalds to grab something for my daughter and myself, and hit the elevators. She was on the 9th floor. 2nd floor passes, 3rd floor passes and so on, until 7th floor, then clunk! We have stopped. The elevator was jammed full. Everyone begins to panic. They are pushing buttons, ringing the emergency bell (which has an automated voice recording that says something like "people in elevator C something, do not panic, help is on the way") 2 of us have cellphones. We try to call out, but we cannot get a signal. I start laughing (I am very clausterphobic) Some panicked young man finally pries on the door and it opens! I show up to my daughter with cold food and a story. LOL

Sounds like a dream huh? My daughters response.......Mom, only you.....only you LOL We have been through many such experiences together....why would this be any different
I am very happy to be back home

I made it home safe, and I know God has his hand on me always!
