Will the Administration call for a Postponed Election

Postby drdos on Tue Oct 30, 2012 11:38 am

:humm: because of Sandy? WOW talk about a perfect storm for Obama. Remains to be seen.

Federal law requires presidential elections to be held on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November, but it also provides that if a state “has failed to make a choice on the day prescribed by law, the electors may be appointed on a subsequent day in such a manner as the legislature of such State may direct.”

I don't think a delayed schedule for the election would benefit Obama at all.

It would only give the press more time to expose the facts on Libya.
And Romney has the momentum on his side right now. He is consistently gaining ground, and Obama seems unable to pull out of his normal bounce zone. More time would only work against Obama.

In all fairness, the storm isn't Obama's doing, and is a natural disaster, but I dread the thought of a postponed election and/or paper ballots.....both seem over the top. If the NYSE is going to open back up tomorrow, then surely they are able to provide power in voting precincts.

If the great depression and world war 2 didn't constitute a postponement, then neither does a storm that only affects 1/6th of the population.

Nope! Never waste a good opportunity to bolster your image. I couldn't believe it when I heard him say today that if anyone is causing a problem in the rescue, cleanup, etc. of the hurricane, just call him at the White House.

He'll take credit for the whole regional restoration in the aftermath of Sandy and brag about how he cared enough to postpone his campaign.

And if anything goes wrong, we know whose fault it was...

I agree. I think at this point they are starting to see the writing on the wall and beginning to switch over to a strategy of contesting the election after the fact and trying to win through some kind of legal maneuvering. 2000 all over again. I think a lot of liberals thought this storm might help him, but he has such a bad track record on this stuff that everyone knows this is just about the election for him. Even Mayor Bloomberg couldn't be bothered with him coming to visit New York.

And if they lose you know they will use this storm as an excuse.

Actually, this storm is a gift to Obama. Suddenly, he gets all these positive photo-ops and even Chris Christie is fawning over him as a "great guy!" Romney really doesn't belong in the picture of a disaster like this. That would be politicizing the disaster. But Obama belongs in the center of it all.

I have believed for 2+ years that we would not have a normal election if BO thought he would lose. Guess we will know in a few days. I hope something bigger doesn't happen.
