The problem with these sorts of quizzes is that they ignore weighting issues.
If one lines up 2 different candidates and candidate A has 7 points in common with me and candidate B has 9 points in common with me the quiz would indicate that candidate B is the best choice for me...but if the 1 point I differ with candidate B on is abortion, for instance, and candidate A is against abortion, I would rather disagreement on some lesser points (such as no child left behind or something of that nature)...but such weighting isn't taken into account in these quizes...and I think it's likely intentionally so.

It also ignores character issues entirely and just focuses on the various issues. Issues are important, but if I don't believe I can trust or believe one or more of the candidates then it's immaterial what their declared stance is on any given issue.

I agree completely with everything you said. But isn't it great to have their take on some important issues right in front of you. Just a piece of the decision -making process, to be sure. But anything that gives insight is bound to help us to make an informed decision. Particularly for new voters just wading into the stream of politics.

I aboslutely agree...it can be helpful to see the stances of the canidates laid side by side. I just wanted to point out that the simplicity of the format can lead to misleading conclusions...there is usually more to considering a candidate than just the stated positions on issues.

I agree with SueAnn that it is useful to see their opinions on issues side by side like that. Just goes to show that there is not one candidate in the offing that I particulary agree with across most issues and would be pleased to vote for.

I agree with perigrini re the weighting. The candidates I agreed with on more issues were also "pro choice." No way will I vote for them.

This one is very good as it allows you to choose from several choices for each issue and weight the issues as well.
