3 Subdued Horns: Portugal, Italy & Spain?

(5-19-07: Changed title to "Portugal, Italy & Spain." Skip to question below dated 05/19/07.)

Dear Herb,

Hope and pray that your family member who had surgery is doing well.

Would be interested in your opinion re. whether the "3 subdued horns" of Daniel might possibly be Aznar (former P.M. of Spain, who was in power when Dr. Solana became Secretary-General of the 10-nation WEU and was unexpectedly voted out of power 2-3 days after the Madred train bombing, and replace by Socialist Zapatero), Berlusconi (former leader of Italy who was also in power when Dr. Solana became S.G. of the WEU and was voted out of office in a very close election in which "irregularities" were charged, and was replaced by EU phile, Prodi) and Blair (P.M. of Britain) who is slated to step down in the summer of 2007.

It would provide consistency for all "3 horns" (all pro-USA re. the Iraq war ) having been in power together with the "little horn," something that no longer applies with Germany (member of the "EU3"/"Big 3") with Chirac no longer in power.

The following thread more accurately reflects the question:

Nony

I have thought about these three too. What will add credence to the idea is if we should see Blair also somehow forcibly removed from power. But, if the three horns are Anzar, Berlusconi and Blair, there is something very scary to consider -- that's the way Anzar was removed. This may suggest certain parties within the EU may have had something to do with the Madrid bombings. And, if so, what else could this suggests?

I still lean toward the EU3 -- France, Germany and the UK. Even should Blair be removed from the picture, someone would take his place -- perhaps more conservative. My point is, for the High Rep to take the leading role in the EU, the EU3 would still have to be dealt with -- even if Blair were to be removed. But, as you point out, we need to remain open to other possibilities.

Thanks, Herb. What probably "triggered" the question is Chirac's very strong pro-Solana stance, which would seem to disqualify him as one of the possible "3 horns" (needing to be subdued by the "little horn").

Apologies for bringing up an old thread, Herb, but have been thinking about the following:

Former Prime Ministers José María Aznar in Spain and Pedro Santana Lopes in Portugal as well as current Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi in Italy made close relations with the United States a central part of their foreign policies, and all three sent troops to fight in Iraq.

As you know, Spain, Portugal and Italy are all full members of the WEU.

Scripture doesn't specifically state that the ac would be responsible for the uprooting, does it? Believe that it only states that they are uprooted before him.

***

1) Aznar/Spain: Abruptly (and unexpectedly, by political experts) replaced by Socialist Zapatero.

2) Lopes/Portugal:

The Government of Santana Lopes got a death sentence on November 30, 2004 when President Jorge Sampaio announced that he was calling an early Parliament election for February 2005, from which a new Government would be formed, after Henrique Chaves, a Santana Lopes loyalist, resigned after four days as minister for sport, claiming that Santana Lopes lacked "loyalty and truth". [2]

Santana Lopes announced the resignation of the government on December 11 so that his Government would assume just a caretaker role until the election. He went on to lead his party to its worst result in parliamentary elections in Portugal; the election of February 20, 2005 was won by the Socialist Party led by José Sócrates, with whom Santana Lopes had debated every Sunday for one year on the public television station, RTP. Santana Lopes did not follow his coalition partner Paulo Portas and did not resign on election night, instead leaving the party leadership two days later.

3) Berlusconi/Italy: Replaced by Socialist Prodi in a very close (and contested) election.

Hope you are feeling better.
