PESTILENCE

When doing a keyword search on Pestilence, it seems like it's almost always a direct judgment from God. Maybe not on an individual basis, i'm not saying an ear infection is God's judgment, but on a large scale, when it affects whole nations.

I think the economic effects could be far worse than the virus it's self, the stock market falling could spiral out of control fast, here and around the world.

I know the media hype is making the panic worse, and I'm not saying let's panic. But this virus does cause pneumonia at a higher percentage than any other virus we've ever seen and I think we're going to see a shortage of ICU beds as a result and even people being turned away before this gets better.

So, WHY NOW? WHY is the Lord bringing judgment on the world as a whole? IS He coming soon? A question worth asking.

Hi extravagantchristian,

God can use pestilence as a form of judgement, but it doesn't mean that every pandemic that comes along is a judgement either. The Spanish flu and the Black Death in Europe killed millions of people, but it doesn't mean it was necessarily a judgement. We live in a fallen world where bad things can and do happen.

Personally, I believe that as long as we are living in this an age of grace there cannot be judgement. Now God can lower his hedge of protection and through our own actions we can bring blessings and cursings, which can allow bad things to happen. And perhaps this is part of the birth pangs, I don't know. But I do know God is reserving His judgment until His cup of iniquity is full. Then He will release it all at once during the tribulation. And it will make the coronavirus look like child's play in comparison.

I don't know why he has allowed this but I pray that he would have mercy and give us a vaccine soon. I also pray that it would come from Israel so that He would get the glory for it. "Look to me and be saved all you ends of the Earth"
