Question about loved ones that have passed away

Postby vsi4Jesus on Sun Jul 30, 2006 5:16 pm

Being a new Christian I have had many questions.
I have just registered to your site and this is my first post. My grandmother passed away last year she was a Mormon. My mother-in-law passed away 2 years ago she was a Catholic. I've done reading about both those religions. Compared their beliefs to how I believe as a Christian. The question I have is when they passed away are they in heaven because of their beliefs? My belief is they are not cause of what they believe. It makes me sad and sometimes I feel guilty for thinking they are not in heaven cause they were not born again. My mothers side is mostly Mormon and my husbands family are mostly Catholic. It's hard to accept I may not be with them in heaven. Could someone tell me if this is wrong to feel this way to feel they are not in heaven cause of their religion? Thank you for any help on this.

:wavewelcome: to the board! So happy to have you with us.

The question you pose is one that many of us has asked of our loved ones also. The Bible is clear about the way to salvation.

Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God."

Joh 14:6 Jesus *said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

We do not know what transpires within the heart and soul of a loved one prior to death. It's possible there is repentence, forgiveness, and salvation. Only God knows.

Thanks to all of you for answering my question. Being a new Christian there are so many questions that you want to ask. I will not worry about their destination I will leave it in God's hands cause He knows best. Thanks for the warm welcome. I am sure I will enjoy your site.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

If they did this then they are saved despite the religions/denominations they belonged to.

Find the right section and ask away! There are some new Christians and some "older" Christians who will be happy to answer your questions as best they can.

Do you have a Bible? That's where we find the answers to our questions.
