Missionary to Peru prayer request

Missionary to Peru prayer request

Postby Resurrection Torchlight on Tue Jun 01, 2021 11:12 am

Our church has supported these missionaries for many years they sent a recent email asking for prayer, thought I would pass it along here:

Dear Praying Friends,

Please pray for Peru this week as Peruvians prepare to vote in the Presidential election run off on Sunday, June 6. The people will choose between a Marxist candidate who promises to eradicate poverty and the daughter of a past president who is now in prison for corruption and killings. You may have seen the news a week ago of a massacre frightening people to sway or suppress their votes. There is much fear as well as economical and social uncertainty as well as questions with regard to religious freedom. Our Peruvian friends are very concerned for the future of Peru.

Pray that Peruvian believers will be strengthened in the Word and God's faithfulness to be an example of courage and joy amidst adversity.

Please pray that we and many other missionaries will still be able to continue to live in Peru and share the gospel, disciple, and raise up God's church in Peru.

We are so thankful that we can count on you to pray!

Together for Him,
Glenn & Dorothy

1 Timothy 2:1-4. I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Lord, please bless this missionary family. Guide them through the days. Provide for them and encourage them in the political changes and physical challenges. Thank You Yeshua. Amen

Just received an update from the Budds

copied from email:

As we look forward to returning to Peru we are thankful that the Covid cases have declined significantly although the Delta variant could stymie that progress.
We were greatly saddened by the death of our friend and vet of over 20 years due to Covid. This reminds us to always take time to talk about the Lord Jesus to those we interact with.
Please pray for physical healing as a nation and that spiritually, people would be more open to the Gospel and the personal peace that only comes from Christ.

The Peruvian presidential election was hotly contested for six weeks with the communist presidential candidate winning by less than 1/4 of 1%. Weeks of unrest and court cases followed the June 6 election. This election has been very divisive and people are afraid of what the future holds.

Please pray that churches and Christian schools can continue with freedoms that they have enjoyed and that Peruvians would turn to God during these uncertain times.
We know we will be returning to a very different Peru due to Covid and the political climate. On July 28th, Peru celebrates it's bicentennial anniversary of independence and swear in the new president.
In these days of uncertainty we are reminded, "God will make this happen, for He who calls you is faithful." I Thess. 5:24

Thank you for praying for wisdom regarding the timing of our return to Peru.
Over the last several months we have taken into account the high Covid rates, the US State Department's travel warnings and the possible changing Peruvian immigration policies.
We prayed and sought counsel through out this process. God has given us peace and direction to return to Peru in October after Amy's late September wedding.
• Pray for future travel arrangements and details.
• Pray that we would continue to have good health.
• We need your prayers for sustained trust in God's direction and purposes for us there!

Looks like Peru is in for some changes, please pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ there.
