Update: Prayers please for another cousin

Postby Loop on Wed Mar 31, 2021 4:45 pm

It seems I"m coming here for Prayer way too often any more..
Another cousin "Sandy" who has been on oxygen for years, has had very bad lungs and lots of other problems recently fell and broke her ankle, she had to have surgery and then they sent her to a rehab... Needless to say she was complaining the nurses at rehab weren't doing their job "they weren't", she ended up with her ankle infected and instead of the rehab getting the anit biotics she was supposed to immediatly it took them three days..
Bad to worse yesterday we were told her liver has failed and her husband and daughter went to spend the day with her, they have unplugged her life support and are not putting any oxygen on her and not giving her any fluids..
Please Pray for this to be over with soon so she doesn't needlessly suffer, I know she is unconsious but... Please just pray for her mom and family Thank you...

I am so sorry, Loop.
There are some wonderful people working in nursing home/rehabs. And then there are the absolute worst that only care about payday.

My cousin woke up this morning and asked for something to eat! Praising God right now!!

I'm smiling from ear to ear... Haven't heard much else but they are taking her mom to go visit she asked for her, this was almost three days without oxygen and fluids, and she was on oxygen full time, I'm still in shock..

My cousin "the sister" of Sandy was with her all day today, she said the dr's and nurses kept coming into the room and were excited, they put her iv back in and put her oxygen back on her, she said her eyes had cleared up a lot so apparently God touched her liver and its working again PRAISE GOD!

Hear they unplugged her from everything and expected her to be dead by now, and now she's awake and talking and asking for food, I'm just so in awe! They are doing bloodwork and it should be in sometime tomorrow..

Michelle said she couldn't believe it when she went in that Sandy was awake and talking, she was expecting to go in and say her goodbyes, Not only that but Sandy knew her and her brother and was asking for her mom... That long without oxygen and apparently no brain damage... God is good!

The power of fervent Prayer. Awesome for us to see God work in answer. Such great news !

God Bless You

David
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God

T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.

I got to visit her yesterday, they are still calling it end of life, letting two up at a time to visit with her, she knew me when I went in an she was wide awake and she jokingly asked what tree I fell out of lol, she asked where my son and husband was, she still gets confused at times but her eyes has cleared up with very little yellow in them. The nurse said her kidney function was a little worse yesterday. Please keep praying..
She once thought she was on a boat and then her house but she kept coming back and talking good.. She was talking about all the people in her room, "its a single bed only her" , she was talking about things we did when we were young, and about going fishing when she gets well.. And wanted me a couple times to wake her husband.
The nurse brought in her food and walked out, she is still weak and wouldn't have been able to eat or drink herself so I got her potato soup and fed her she ate really well and had jello and drank three different cans of pop while I was there, she still seems dehydrated as she drank quiet a lot while I was there, her mom and sister was coming later in the evening so I left so she could rest up until they got there but it was so good to see her...
And yes it was a miracle she even woke back up and her liver is working again, that they were not expecting, so we got more time with her...

In prayer with you, sis. I'm so sorry to hear stories like this, and there seem to be many these days. Many cases of people not caring enough, loving enough, and doing the right thing, without debating it....just doing it, because it's the right next thing to do.
God's blessings and comfort on all of your family as you deal with this suffering trial.

Those are all very positive signs. Keep praying, keep believing. It doesn't matter what the doctors and nurses are saying. God has the final word. My nephew's kidneys were also not functioning, but overnight his stats suddenly changed. The facts may say one thing, but the truth is by His stripes we were healed.

I haven't updated for a while, my cousin Sandy was moved to another nursing home almost a week ago, she is getting stronger and is now almost back to normal, just talked to her on the phone, so wonderful to hear her voice, she says she still doesn't remember a lot of things but compared to what the drs had said she has beat all the odds, they are now talking about rehab LOL... God is Great and has given us more time with her..
She likes the place she is in now, said the nurses are very good to her and the food is really good, her ankle that she broke is looking good and they are talking about getting her up into her wheelchair soon which she is looking forward too..
Thank you guys so much for the Prayer, my cousin is a miracle what they the drs did not expect to live...

Its been a while since I've updated: Sandy is doing so much better its almost unbelievable , when I talk to her on the phone she sounds pretty much back to normal, nothing "off the wall" the last couple times I've talked to her..
Her dr's has told her that her ankle is completely healed and have released her to put all her weight back onto it so she is still in the nursing home but she is starting to get intensive therapy trying to get her back up onto her feet...
Please keep her in your prayers she covets them all and she is fighting with everything in her... It has been an absolute miracle... We appreciate all of your Prayers..

My cousin who has been having problems with meth.. Oh we need a miracle with her too... She somehow broke her hip, she says it was her husband, but every little bit she is attacking him he always has scratch's and cuts... She has turned him in multiple times even when I know she has lied about it but she expects that he should stand/stay with her the whole time she is screaming at him and gets mad when he gets in his car and leaves, once again she signed herself out of the hospital even though the drs told her that there is something in her blood that could kill her, her husband wouldn't sign her out ... but he is trying to care for her even with all the drama, they did surgery and pinned her hip back in place but she is still not taking it easy and is in and out of the house multiple times a day. And her foot where she had to have two toes amputated a few months ago still has not completely healed... I have no idea how she can get up and go/ride in a car and walk with her hip broken/pinned in place, "the drs told her to stay off of it and not put any weight on it.. when I broke mine it was horrific the pain was so bad.. When she came up here several nights ago looking for her husband and ran into the ditch, my hubby had to pull her out, she told me she thought her hip was either broken or out of socket, " I thought she was crazy because I didn't think anyone could ride/drive/ a car or walk with a hip broken.. so well I didn't believe her that is was really hurt, Well now I know better.. And I do feel bad.. Its crazy... She screams at her husband until he leaves and then goes crazy hunting for him its really so sad seeing her like this... Please keep her in Prayer that she wakes up and realizes she is pushing everyone away and that someone comes into her life that can get her to see she is ruining her life... Sorry this is so long...

Hi Loop: I have told a close family member that unless or until we have a doctor who lays ground rules for contact between us, sets boundaries and identifies consequences, I will not be in the same place as her, physically. My finger was broken a little more than a month ago when she yanked her baby out of my arms and my hand hit the desk I was sitting beside. My finger had arthritis in the joint and has been a swollen mess ever since that happened. In our case, it's her BPD mental illness, but the fact is, I cannot control her, only me, and none of us can anticipate what is going to set her off....the last time I saw her, it was because she was holding her baby and it reached for me. We keep her baby because of HER behavior and some things that happened, but she blames me and not herself for the fact that she hasn't done what social services required, and as a result, still doesn't have her baby. There are many things that set off people with mental illnesses, and for those with personality disorders, boundaries, ground rules for contact, etc., are best to have in place.

I mention all this, because the same sort of thing often applies with drug users. Many steal, have disordered brain activity, even if not high in the moment...because it takes months for the brain to recover and restore itself after a bout of using. I've had to learn that, too, in my lifetime, because of people close to me using drugs.

There is another issue with dealing with people both with mental illness and drug abuse, and that is, they often want or expect unreasonable things from us, and because we love them, or don't want to see them endure the consequences for their actions, we shelter or enable them to continue in their self destructive ways. I am finally willing and ready to tell anyone who violates my own boundaries that unless and until they choose differently, we will have boundaries and rules of engagement, or we won't have any contact until they are back to being appropriate when around me. My life is more manageable when I stand my ground with those whose lives and behaviors are out of control.

I am writing this, because so many of us go through this type of roller coaster with our loved ones. I hope someone who reads this needs to see it and can benefit from it's message....because there is so much mental illness and drug abuse going on in our society these days, and those of us not abusing drugs really do reach our wits end and it gets so difficult.

I will pray for your family, Loop. :hugs:  You are such an amazing sister in Christ!!!! I care that your family is going through this.

Dearest Yeshua,
Thank You for helping Sandy. Please continue to give her strength.

For the meth situation, Lord, please make drugs an ugly and unattractive substance in her life. Give her hope. Surround her with help and encouragement. Please preserve and protect all involved. Thank You Lord. Amen

:hugs: Love you, too. Man, it's so awesome to have friends I've never seen face to face, but love so much.....and honestly, know so well. It's true....we've revealed our emotions and hearts and thoughts and observations and opinions etal....so much to each other over the past years that we do "know" one another here on so many levels.
It's going to be so awesome when our Groom comes and gets us and we get to meet each other in the times to come. I am going to be so excited to meet so many of you from FP. Coming here, we, in a way, are assembling, as scripture admonishes us to do. We aren't physically meeting, but we do meet and share and have Sunday school allllllll the time.
