My child is in the hospital

My child is in the hospital

Postby GodsStudent on Wed Aug 21, 2013 8:58 am

She has been sick a few days, and her doctor thought it was something simple, but after I peeled her off the floor last night, as she was in a little puddle, screaming, we rushed her here, and they admitted her. We are doing tests and iv antibiotics. Please pray the diagnosis is accurate and the most appropriate treatments are implemented with complete succes. Thank you....

Thank you so much for your prayers....we have received the best care and I am just so grateful. I have praised the Lord all day through this. Our daughter had gall stones that went through the liver and were cutting into the intestines. Her liver, gall bladder, intestines and pancreas are all "angry" with the gall bladder being very sick. We've seen specialist after specialist all day and it was settled that a pediatric gastroenterologist would do a surgery today (and he did) on the liver and small intestines to cut out the stones that were blocking the ducts on both sides. If successful, they expect to see improvements on the pancreas, small intestines and liver. If that is the case, this specialist will turn her care back over to the general surgeons who will then monitor her and decide when it will be safe to remove her gall bladder, and that will be the next surgery.

So far, so good, and I sincerely appreciate your prayers. The professionals we've dealt with have been so great to our family and they have not dragged their feet, but at the same time, they themselves have sought their piers and we've literally seen what seems like a million doctors, answered everyone's questions and even had several doctors work together in the first surgery they did this afternoon. She is resting peacefully now.

(perhaps she's enjoyed the pain medicine a little too much, as she is the talk of the hospital....last night, after getting her strong IV pain medicine a disney movie was playing that had songs in it....from a sound sleep, she literally talked the parts through the movie and sang all the songs....it was just so cute....she was completely out, yet she was following the movie playing in the background and singing the songs so sweetly....adorable!). Everywhere we went in the hospital today, staff were asking us if she was the one who did that....they all got such a kick out of it, lol!

Sis,

So happy to hear the doctors have diagnosed the problem and it is something they can fix. Your daughter and you and your husband have been in my thoughts and prayers since first learning about this emergency.

Thank you all for the prayers...they availed much! Late today the removed the gall bladder....my little pistol is recovering now, but was quite mad about her first taste of surgical cutting pain....recovery nurse said they all heard her coming out of the OR and down the hall to recovery! The surgery on Wed. Was done down her throat so today was the first time she had been under a knife. Shes progressing and coming to terms now and has already been up walking twice tonight....she has to walk to get the surgical gasses they expand patients with out of her system. ...and of course, this will decrease her pain. Shes a trooper...kids are tougher than even they think!!

We are anticipating those wonderful words now....the Dr. Has now discharged her!!!! Cant wait. Not sure we will hear them tomorrow, but we have the toughest parts behind us now, and we look forward to the mend! She will be out of school at least all week next week....but she will be home soon, and the good healing can get on the fast track.

All of the prayers and well wishes from our friends have made such a positive difference for all of us and we thank you all....now if I could just sleep in my own bed

Praise the Lord for this good news! I pray your daughter will be home soon and you can rest in your own bed. You must be so tired from staying up to watch over your child and the stress you have been under. I pray God will send help your way to lift your load for a while until you can catch your breath and regain your own strength. :praying:

 David....that was funny.....lol....the recover nurse in the OR said the same exact thing and I was even then on my best behavior (or so I was thinking).....lol.

She's Home. PRAISE THE LORD SHE IS HOME AND ON THE MEND!

Now, I need a new kind of prayer. She is a child and said 1,000 times at the hospital that she didn't do anything wrong and she doesn't know why God let this happen. We talked about it every time, but she is confused about why God lets bad things happen to children. She was particularly upset seeing the babies and small children come through, as they did.

Please pray for Gabrielle that the Lord will help her hear, in her heart, what we are explaining to her. I am confident we've said the right things, but because she repeatedly mentions this, I am not confident she is listening to us. She is angry and feels abandoned by God. Part of this could surely be the medication, but I want her to come away from this experience with a right understanding of the fallen world and ESPECIALLY all of the wonderful things the Lord did for us in this process. I could see Him moving mightily all through the whole ordeal, but she couldn't. Gabrielle needs our prayers and most certainly the Lord. Please pray for her. Thank you all.

Something that I continually try to keep in mind, and something that helped me understand the big picture better as a young person...we live in a fallen world. Disease is a consequence of that. And everyone, should they live long enough, will experience disease. And everyone, short of the Lord's return, will experience death. That's just the way it is...but PRAISE THE LORD, we have heaven to look forward to. Got reminded of it today in church. Worship was all about how this world is not our home. Heaven will be the ultimate healing for each of us. And so, so thankful she is better. :praise:

SS, your little one stays on my mind. I though about you all constantly this week at the hospital. Since we were in the children's hospital, there were so many little people and babies. The hardest was walking through the recovery room after surgery, and seeing the little babies that had just gotten out of surgery....I thought of you constantly.....

I do agree with everything you said, and so my thoughts were not anger, but just with how much the Lord has to deal with every single day....He see's this every day around the clock all over our planet....it just boggles the mind to think of all that He is watching over, every day, all day, endlessly. I can only imagine what my mind can comprehend at once.

When you get overwhelmed thinking about what all He has to put up with...get overwhelmed thinking about who He is. He's got it. And it's going to be alright.
