I often read the articles in the Fulfilled Prophecy archives and found this one that I thought was a great Christmas post. I hope you do as well. I often miss the posts by Holly and Adam but a review of those from the past is the next best thing.... :wink:

Way Before the Manger — What Holly and Adam Think

Many people don’t know that the Christmas story began way before the little town of Bethlehem was even on the map.

It began all the way back in Genesis, right after the fall of man. God spoke to Satan and said this to him:

I will put enmity
between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and hers;
he will crush your head
and you will strike his heel. (Genesis 3:15, New International Version)

Satan had just deceived Eve and Adam into disobeying God, and, as a result, sin and death entered the world. It seemed all hope for humanity was gone. But in that dark moment God promised that, one day, one of Eve’s descendants would give birth to a child and that child would crush Satan’s head.

And that is exactly what happened when Mary gave birth to Jesus. We know the rest of the story. Satan appeared to be victorious when Jesus was crucified. But it was just a minor knick on Jesus’ heel compared to the death blow He dealt to Satan when He rose from the dead.

And Jesus’ victory over Satan was a victory all believers will share at His second coming when He will crush Satan under our feet, too (Romans 16:20).

Yet it began — not in a manger — but long before that, when a gracious God made a way to save fallen mankind.

Merry Christmas!
