69 weeks

I just read an interesting article that stated Suleiman the Magnificent (Ruler of the Ottoman Empire from 1520-1566) made an order to rebuild Jerusalem, including the walls. Notice how similar the name is to Soloman. If we take 69 weeks (483 years) and go backwards from 2015 we get 1532 which is during Suleiman's reign. Lets take a look at Daniel 9:25
25Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
No where in that statement did it say 70 weeks. Its 69 weeks from a given point to the return of Christ. Could this be the time the Messiah returns for His bride and then is cut off (meaning the Holy Spirit is now gone)?
26And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
He destroys the city and the sanctuary, this is the time those who listen to God know to get out of the city.
27And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Does the final week start after the rapture, when the covenant is made? And then in the midst of the week the temple is taken over? And then the wrath begins?

Just kicking around ideas!

Yes, that was one theory that we discussed here on FP also around the time of Mark Biltz's discovery.

Many things seems to point to a 2015 return - the only thing is that if Daniel's 70th week is 7 years long then that throws out the theory that Jesus will return on Day of Atonement (23 Sept 2015) because 7 years is 2520 days (based on 360 days per year) and we have passed that.

But there is still a possibility that the above scenerio would work and that is, apparently, 6 years 1 day is also considered 7 years in Jewish reckoning, in which case we still have quite a bit of time to spare.

Unless our pre-trib understanding is wrong and we are already in the tribulation...
Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

πατερ δοξασον σου το ονομα
Father, glorify thy name.

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Interesting.

I've always thought that the real significant, run for your life to survive tribulation starts at the AOD. Some people call this the Great Tribulation. Not sure how the 7 year time frame really works, but for me, the 1st 3 yrs aren't the ones to dread. If we are removed prior to the AOD, then in my mind, the Harpazo is still Pre-trib. It's all so confusing and my brain gets all muddled with the numbers. Especially when you throw in the marriage week and the 70th week stuff. :alrighty:

Thankfully, God is in control of it all and we just need to trust Him. :bowing:
