I see America (the United States) as being a Gentile nation. There are children of Israel living in our midst, but for the most part, we are a Gentile nation. The only nation that can truly claim to be Israel, is Israel.
Many people are wondering where the twelve tribes of Israel are. The final phases of Israel as a nation in the Bible consisted of Israel being divided into two kingdoms. The northern kingdom was referred to as Israel, Samaria, and occasionally Ephraim. The southern kingdom was referred to as Judah. The northern kingdom was judged by God first, scattered by Assyria (II Kings 17). The southern kingdom, several generations later, was judged by God and carried into captivity by Babylon (II Kings 25).
Ezekiel has an interesting prophecy that many people overlook. Ezekiel prophesies this after the fall of Jerusalem. (Ezekiel 33:21) The prophecy in Ezekiel 37:15-28 should be read by all who claim they are looking for the missing tribes of Israel. While both kingdoms were in captivity, Ezekiel prophesied that the LORD would transform both kingdoms back into one kingdom.
Some of the language in the passage shows that some aspects of this prophecy will not be fulfilled until Christ comes again. But when the children of Israel were returning to Jerusalem after their seventy years captivity (Jeremiah 29:10,11; Daniel 9:2; II Chronicles 36:20-23) all tribes were represented in Jerusalem at that time, to partially fulfill what Ezekiel has promised. This is proven by the Chronicler establishing lineages in the beginning of his book.

I and II Chronicles (originally one book), were written after the captivity, as those who still believed in the God of Israel were returning to Jerusalem. If you take on the tedious task of reading I Chronicles chapters 1 through 9, you find out who was returning to Jerusalem after the captivity. These lineages were written so that everyone might have proof of who they were as a child of Israel.
All twelve sons are named, and very specifically, Judah, Simeon, Reuben, Gad, Levi, Issachar, Benjamin, Naphtali, Manasseh and Ephraim (both sons of Joseph), Asher, all have their descendants traced further than any other book in the Bible traces them. This shows that all tribes were being gathered to Jerusalem and the surrounding areas at that time.

Where is America in the Bible? I don't believe we are represented in the Bible by any of the tribes of Israel. We will be one of two kinds of nations. Either we will gather together against Israel and their Messiah at the end, or we will fear the God of Israel and know that those who march against them are marching to their doom. Psalm 2 and 110.

I'm open to hearing other views on the twelve tribes though.
