The prophetic words of the Scriptures

Postby Ready1 on Sun Jul 09, 2017 8:45 am

I am curious how many different places are there in the OT which we can establish as " the prophetic words of the Scriptures " which would apply to these passages of Luke and Mark and the vengeance of the Lord. It seems like this Isaiah passage would be one of those which these probably refer to.

Luk 21:20 "And when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you will know that the time of its destruction has arrived.
Luk 21:21 Then those in Judea must flee to the hills. Those in Jerusalem must get out, and those out in the country should not return to the city.
Luk 21:22 For those will be days of God's vengeance, and the prophetic words of the Scriptures will be fulfilled.
Luk 21:23 How terrible it will be for pregnant women and for nursing mothers in those days. For there will be disaster in the land and great anger against this people.
Luk 21:24 They will be killed by the sword or sent away as captives to all the nations of the world. And Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles until the period of the Gentiles comes to an end.

Mar 13:14 "The day is coming when you will see the sacrilegious object that causes desecration standing where he should not be." (Reader, pay attention!) "Then those in Judea must flee to the hills.
Mar 13:15 A person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack.
Mar 13:16 A person out in the field must not return even to get a coat.
Mar 13:17 How terrible it will be for pregnant women and for nursing mothers in those days.
Mar 13:18 And pray that your flight will not be in winter.
Mar 13:19 For there will be greater anguish in those days than at any time since God created the world. And it will never be so great again.
Mar 13:20 In fact, unless the Lord shortens that time of calamity, not a single person will survive. But for the sake of His chosen ones He has shortened those days.

Isa 33:14 The sinners in Jerusalem shake with fear. Terror seizes the godless. "Who can live with this devouring fire?" they cry. "Who can survive this all-consuming fire?"
Isa 33:15 Those who are honest and fair, who refuse to profit by fraud, who stay far away from bribes, who refuse to listen to those who plot murder, who shut their eyes to all enticement to do wrong—
Isa 33:16 these are the ones who will dwell on high. The rocks of the mountains will be their fortress. Food will be supplied to them, and they will have water in abundance.
Isa 33:17 Your eyes will see the king in all his splendor, and you will see a land that stretches into the distance.
Isa 33:18 You will think back to this time of terror, asking, "Where are the Assyrian officers who counted our towers? Where are the bookkeepers who recorded the plunder taken from our fallen city?"
Isa 33:19 You will no longer see these fierce, violent people with their strange, unknown language.
Isa 33:20 Instead, you will see Zion as a place of holy festivals. You will see Jerusalem, a city quiet and secure. It will be like a tent whose ropes are taut and whose stakes are firmly fixed.
Isa 33:21 The LORD will be our Mighty One. He will be like a wide river of protection that no enemy can cross, that no enemy ship can sail upon.
Isa 33:22 For the LORD is our judge, our lawgiver, and our king. He will care for us and save us.
Isa 33:23 The enemies' sails hang loose on broken masts with useless tackle. Their treasure will be divided by the people of God. Even the lame will take their share!
Isa 33:24 The people of Israel will no longer say, "We are sick and helpless," for the LORD will forgive their sins.
Just observing.

Jer 4:17 They surround Jerusalem like watchmen around a field, for My people have rebelled against Me," says the LORD.
Jer 4:18 "Your own actions have brought this upon you. This punishment is bitter, piercing you to the heart!"
Jer 4:19 My heart, my heart—I writhe in pain! My heart pounds within me! I cannot be still. For I have heard the blast of enemy trumpets and the roar of their battle cries.
Jer 4:20 Waves of destruction roll over the land, until it lies in complete desolation. Suddenly my tents are destroyed; in a moment my shelters are crushed.
Jer 4:21 How long must I see the battle flags and hear the trumpets of war?
Jer 4:22 "My people are foolish and do not know Me," says the LORD. "They are stupid children who have no understanding. They are clever enough at doing wrong, but they have no idea how to do right!"
Jer 4:23 I looked at the earth, and it was empty and formless. I looked at the heavens, and there was no light.
Jer 4:24 I looked at the mountains and hills, and they trembled and shook.
Jer 4:25 I looked, and all the people were gone. All the birds of the sky had flown away.
Jer 4:26 I looked, and the fertile fields had become a wilderness. The towns lay in ruins, crushed by the LORD's fierce anger.
Jer 4:27 This is what the LORD says: "The whole land will be ruined, but I will not destroy it completely.
Jer 4:28 The earth will mourn and the heavens will be draped in black because of My decree against My people. I have made up My mind and will not change it."
Jer 4:29 At the noise of charioteers and archers, the people flee in terror. They hide in the bushes and run for the mountains. All the towns have been abandoned—not a person remains!
Jer 4:30 What are you doing, you who have been plundered? Why do you dress up in beautiful clothing and put on gold jewelry? Why do you brighten your eyes with mascara? Your primping will do you no good! The allies who were your lovers despise you and seek to kill you.
Jer 4:31 I hear a cry, like that of a woman in labor, the groans of a woman giving birth to her first child. It is beautiful Jerusalem gasping for breath and crying out, "Help! I'm being murdered!"
Just observing.

Zec 12:1 This message concerning the fate of Israel came from the LORD: "This message is from the LORD, who stretched out the heavens, laid the foundations of the earth, and formed the human spirit.
Zec 12:2 I will make Jerusalem like an intoxicating drink that makes the nearby nations stagger when they send their armies to besiege Jerusalem and Judah.
Zec 12:3 On that day I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock. All the nations will gather against it to try to move it, but they will only hurt themselves.
Zec 12:4 "On that day," says the LORD, "I will cause every horse to panic and every rider to lose his nerve. I will watch over the people of Judah, but I will blind all the horses of their enemies.
Zec 12:5 And the clans of Judah will say to themselves, 'The people of Jerusalem have found strength in the LORD of Heaven's Armies, their God.'
Zec 12:6 "On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a flame that sets a woodpile ablaze or like a burning torch among sheaves of grain. They will burn up all the neighboring nations right and left, while the people living in Jerusalem remain secure.
Zec 12:7 "The LORD will give victory to the rest of Judah first, before Jerusalem, so that the people of Jerusalem and the royal line of David will not have greater honor than the rest of Judah.
Zec 12:8 On that day the LORD will defend the people of Jerusalem; the weakest among them will be as mighty as King David! And the royal descendants will be like God, like the angel of the LORD who goes before them!
Zec 12:9 For on that day I will begin to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
Zec 12:10 "Then I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on the family of David and on the people of Jerusalem. They will look on Me whom they have pierced and mourn for Him as for an only son. They will grieve bitterly for Him as for a firstborn son who has died.
Zec 12:11 The sorrow and mourning in Jerusalem on that day will be like the great mourning for Hadad-rimmon in the valley of Megiddo.
Zec 12:12 "All Israel will mourn, each clan by itself, and with the husbands separate from their wives. The clan of David will mourn alone, as will the clan of Nathan,
Zec 12:13 the clan of Levi, and the clan of Shimei.
Zec 12:14 Each of the surviving clans from Judah will mourn separately, and with the husbands separate from their wives.
Just observing.

Zec 13:1 "On that day a fountain will be opened for the dynasty of David and for the people of Jerusalem, a fountain to cleanse them from all their sins and impurity.
Zec 13:2 "And on that day," says the LORD of Heaven's Armies, "I will erase idol worship throughout the land, so that even the names of the idols will be forgotten. I will remove from the land both the false prophets and the spirit of impurity that came with them.
Zec 13:3 If anyone continues to prophesy, his own father and mother will tell him, 'You must die, for you have prophesied lies in the name of the LORD.' And as he prophesies, his own father and mother will stab him.
Zec 13:4 "On that day people will be ashamed to claim the prophetic gift. No one will pretend to be a prophet by wearing prophet's clothes.
Zec 13:5 He will say, 'I'm no prophet; I'm a farmer. I began working for a farmer as a boy.'
Zec 13:6 And if someone asks, 'Then what about those wounds on your chest? ' he will say, 'I was wounded at my friends' house!'
Zec 13:7 "Awake, O sword, against My shepherd, the man who is My partner," says the LORD of Heaven's Armies. "Strike down the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn against the lambs.
Zec 13:8 Two-thirds of the people in the land will be cut off and die," says the LORD. "But one-third will be left in the land.
Zec 13:9 I will bring that group through the fire and make them pure. I will refine them like silver and purify them like gold. They will call on My name, and I will answer them. I will say, 'These are My people,' and they will say, 'The LORD is our God.'"

Zec 14:1 Watch, for the day of the LORD is coming when your possessions will be plundered right in front of you!
Zec 14:2 I will gather all the nations to fight against Jerusalem. The city will be taken, the houses looted, and the women raped. Half the population will be taken into captivity, and the rest will be left among the ruins of the city.
Zec 14:3 Then the LORD will go out to fight against those nations, as He has fought in times past.
Zec 14:4 On that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem. And the Mount of Olives will split apart, making a wide valley running from east to west. Half the mountain will move toward the north and half toward the south.
Zec 14:5 You will flee through this valley, for it will reach across to Azal. Yes, you will flee as you did from the earthquake in the days of King Uzziah of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all His holy ones with Him.
Zec 14:6 On that day the sources of light will no longer shine,
Zec 14:7 yet there will be continuous day! Only the LORD knows how this could happen. There will be no normal day and night, for at evening time it will still be light.
Zec 14:8 On that day life-giving waters will flow out from Jerusalem, half toward the Dead Sea and half toward the Mediterranean, flowing continuously in both summer and winter.
Zec 14:9 And the LORD will be king over all the earth. On that day there will be one LORD—His name alone will be worshiped.
Zec 14:10 All the land from Geba, north of Judah, to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem, will become one vast plain. But Jerusalem will be raised up in its original place and will be inhabited all the way from the Benjamin Gate over to the site of the old gate, then to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king's winepresses.
Zec 14:11 And Jerusalem will be filled, safe at last, never again to be cursed and destroyed.
Zec 14:12 And the LORD will send a plague on all the nations that fought against Jerusalem. Their people will become like walking corpses, their flesh rotting away. Their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.
Zec 14:13 On that day they will be terrified, stricken by the LORD with great panic. They will fight their neighbors hand to hand.
Zec 14:14 Judah, too, will be fighting at Jerusalem. The wealth of all the neighboring nations will be captured—great quantities of gold and silver and fine clothing.
Zec 14:15 This same plague will strike the horses, mules, camels, donkeys, and all the other animals in the enemy camps.
Zec 14:16 In the end, the enemies of Jerusalem who survive the plague will go up to Jerusalem each year to worship the King, the LORD of Heaven's Armies, and to celebrate the Festival of Shelters.
Zec 14:17 Any nation in the world that refuses to come to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of Heaven's Armies, will have no rain.
Zec 14:18 If the people of Egypt refuse to attend the festival, the LORD will punish them with the same plague that He sends on the other nations who refuse to go.
Zec 14:19 Egypt and the other nations will all be punished if they don't go to celebrate the Festival of Shelters.
Zec 14:20 On that day even the harness bells of the horses will be inscribed with these words: HOLY TO THE LORD. And the cooking pots in the Temple of the LORD will be as sacred as the basins used beside the altar.
Zec 14:21 In fact, every cooking pot in Jerusalem and Judah will be holy to the LORD of Heaven's Armies. All who come to worship will be free to use any of these pots to boil their sacrifices. And on that day there will no longer be traders in the Temple of the LORD of Heaven's Armies.
Just observing.

Jer 23:5 "For the time is coming," says the LORD, "when I will raise up a righteous descendant from King David's line. He will be a King who rules with wisdom. He will do what is just and right throughout the land.
Jer 23:6 And this will be His name: 'The LORD Is Our Righteousness.' In that day Judah will be saved, and Israel will live in safety.
Jer 23:7 "In that day," says the LORD, "when people are taking an oath, they will no longer say, 'As surely as the LORD lives, who rescued the people of Israel from the land of Egypt.'
Jer 23:8 Instead, they will say, 'As surely as the LORD lives, who brought the people of Israel back to their own land from the land of the north and from all the countries to which He had exiled them.' Then they will live in their own land."

Jer 16:13 So I will throw you out of this land and send you into a foreign land where you and your ancestors have never been. There you can worship idols day and night—and I will grant you no favors!'
Jer 16:14 "But the time is coming," says the LORD, "when people who are taking an oath will no longer say, 'As surely as the LORD lives, who rescued the people of Israel from the land of Egypt.'
Jer 16:15 Instead, they will say, 'As surely as the LORD lives, who brought the people of Israel back to their own land from the land of the north and from all the countries to which He had exiled them.' For I will bring them back to this land that I gave their ancestors.
Just observing.

Re: The prophetic words of the Scriptures

Postby Ready1 on Tue Oct 02, 2018 12:41 pm

I think that this one qualifies as part to the "prophetic words of the Scriptures".

Judgment on the Whole Earth

Isa 24:1 Behold, the LORD will empty the earth and make it desolate, and he will twist its surface and scatter its inhabitants.
Isa 24:2 And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the slave, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the creditor, so with the debtor.
Isa 24:3 The earth shall be utterly empty and utterly plundered; for the LORD has spoken this word.
Isa 24:4 The earth mourns and withers; the world languishes and withers; the highest people of the earth languish.
Isa 24:5 The earth lies defiled under its inhabitants; for they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, broken the everlasting covenant.
Isa 24:6 Therefore a curse devours the earth, and its inhabitants suffer for their guilt; therefore the inhabitants of the earth are scorched, and few men are left.
Isa 24:7 The wine mourns, the vine languishes, all the merry-hearted sigh.
Isa 24:8 The mirth of the tambourines is stilled, the noise of the jubilant has ceased, the mirth of the lyre is stilled.
Isa 24:9 No more do they drink wine with singing; strong drink is bitter to those who drink it.
Isa 24:10 The wasted city is broken down; every house is shut up so that none can enter.
Isa 24:11 There is an outcry in the streets for lack of wine; all joy has grown dark; the gladness of the earth is banished.
Isa 24:12 Desolation is left in the city; the gates are battered into ruins.
Isa 24:13 For thus it shall be in the midst of the earth among the nations, as when an olive tree is beaten, as at the gleaning when the grape harvest is done.
Isa 24:14 They lift up their voices, they sing for joy; over the majesty of the LORD they shout from the west.
Isa 24:15 Therefore in the east give glory to the LORD; in the coastlands of the sea, give glory to the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
Isa 24:16 From the ends of the earth we hear songs of praise, of glory to the Righteous One. But I say, "I waste away, I waste away. Woe is me! For the traitors have betrayed, with betrayal the traitors have betrayed."
Isa 24:17 Terror and the pit and the snare are upon you, O inhabitant of the earth!
Isa 24:18 He who flees at the sound of the terror shall fall into the pit, and he who climbs out of the pit shall be caught in the snare. For the windows of heaven are opened, and the foundations of the earth tremble.
Isa 24:19 The earth is utterly broken, the earth is split apart, the earth is violently shaken.
Isa 24:20 The earth staggers like a drunken man; it sways like a hut; its transgression lies heavy upon it, and it falls, and will not rise again.
Isa 24:21 On that day the LORD will punish the host of heaven, in heaven, and the kings of the earth, on the earth.
Isa 24:22 They will be gathered together as prisoners in a pit; they will be shut up in a prison, and after many days they will be punished.
Isa 24:23 Then the moon will be confounded and the sun ashamed, for the LORD of hosts reigns on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and his glory will be before his elders.
Just observing.
