Why The Earthquake Near San Francisco May Just Be The Start Of A Whole Lot Of Shaking

If you thought that the earthquake that struck northern California on Sunday was something, just wait until you see what is coming in the years ahead. As you will read about below, we live at a time when earthquake activity is dramatically increasing.

This is especially true of the "Ring of Fire" which runs roughly along the outer perimeter of the Pacific Ocean. Approximately 81 percent of all big earthquakes occur along the Ring of Fire, and the entire west coast of the United States falls within the danger zone. Over the past few years, we have seen huge earthquake after huge earthquake strike various areas along the Ring of Fire, but up until now the California coastline has mostly been spared. However, there are indications that this may be about to change in a big way.
skip
And the earthquake that happened on Sunday would not even be worth comparing to an 8.0 or a 9.0 quake. In fact, one study concluded that a 9.0 magnitude earthquake along the Cascadia fault could potentially produce a giant tsunami that would "wash away coastal towns"…

If a 9.0 earthquake were to strike along California’s sparsely populated North Coast, it would have a catastrophic ripple effect.

A giant tsunami created by the quake would wash away coastal towns, destroy U.S. 101 and cause $70 billion in damage over a large swath of the Pacific coast. More than 100 bridges would be lost, power lines toppled and coastal towns isolated. Residents would have as few as 15 minutes notice to flee to higher ground, and as many as 10,000 would perish.

Scientists last year published this grim scenario for a massive rupture along the Cascadia fault system, which runs 700 miles off shore from Northern California to Vancouver Island.
And when we think about "the Big One" hitting California, most of the time we think about southern California. The most famous fault line in southern California is the San Andreas fault, but the truth is that many experts are far more concerned about the Puente Hills fault line. According to one seismologist, that is the fault that would be most likely to "eat L.A." and cause hundreds of billions of dollars in economic damage...

Video simulations of a rupture on the Puente Hills fault system show how energy from a quake could erupt and be funneled toward L.A.'s densest neighborhoods, with the strongest waves rippling to the west and south across the Los Angeles Basin.
skip
As I mentioned above, we have moved into a time when seismic activity is steadily rising. It has gotten to the point where even the mainstream media cannot ignore it anymore. For example, just check out the following excerpt from a recent CBS News report…

The average rate of big earthquakes — those larger than magnitude 7 — has been 10 per year since 1979, the study reports. That rate rose to 12.5 per year starting in 1992, and then jumped to 16.7 per year starting in 2010 — a 65 percent increase compared to the rate since 1979. This increase accelerated in the first three months of 2014 to more than double the average since 1979, the researchers report.

Something is happening that scientists don't understand, and that is a little scary.

As I wrote about the other day, earthquake activity seems to particularly be increasing in the United States. While the west has been relatively quiet, the number of earthquakes in the central and eastern portions of the nation has quintupled over the past 30 years…

According to the USGS, the frequency of earthquakes in the central and eastern U.S. has quintupled, to an average of 100 a year during the 2011-2013 period, up from only 20 per year during the 30-year period to 2000.

Most of these quakes were minor, but research published by the USGS earlier this year demonstrated that a relatively minor magnitude 5.0 quake caused by wastewater injection after conventional oil drilling triggered a much bigger, 5.7 magnitude quake in Prague, Okla.

“We know the hazard has increased for small and moderate size earthquakes. We don’t know as well how much the hazard has increased for large earthquakes. Our suspicion is it has but we are working on understanding this,” said William Ellsworth, a scientist with the USGS.

What in the world could be causing this to happen?

Oklahoma, which used to rarely ever have significant earthquakes, has experienced over 2,300 earthquakes so far in 2014.

Anytime the words "California" and "Earthquake" appear in the same sentence, or series of sentences, I seem to kind of hold my breath.

I woke from a dream this morning in which I was on the west coast, in a city at night, and saw the sea rising, and it violently flooded the entire city. And in my dream, it was the beginning of the Tribulation.

There are a few scriptures that state 'it begins with a flood'. I always thought it would be a literal, devastating flood.

Is this the scripture of which you speak?
Daniel 9:
26 And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall be cut off and shall have nothing. And the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end shall come with a flood, and to the end there shall be war. Desolations are decreed. 27 And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week, and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.”
Exalt the Lord our God and worship at His holy mountain, for the Lord our God is holy.

I have not posted anything to this site, in a long time. I still watch the Earthquakes and there is a significant increase in larger earthquakes this past week. 6.9 just reported off the eastern coast of Japan with a possible Tsnunami threat.

Strong quake shakes northeast Japan, no tsunami risk

Published May 12, 2015
·Associated Press

TOKYO – A strong earthquake hit Japan on Tuesday in the same region devastated by a major quake and tsunami in 2011. Authorities said there was no risk of tsunami.

The Japan Meteorological Agency put the preliminary magnitude at 6.6, the U.S. Geological Service measured it at 6.8.

During the past 3 weeks, things have really started "ramping up" throughout the world regarding severe earthquakes. I have been watching the trends for the past 10 years and the number of severe quakes in the past 3 weeks is significant:

6.0 Barbuda
6.1 Guatemala
6.6 Afghanistan
6.0 Indonesia
6.0 Vanuatu
6.4 Vanuatu
6.7 Vanuatu
6.7 Vanuatu
6.9 Vanuatu
6.2 Japan
7.0 Japan
7.4 Ecuador

Not sure if this is significant related to prophesy, but, it is unusual.

Aid began to flow in Sunday to areas devastated by Ecuador's strongest earthquake in decades and the death toll continued to rise as people left homeless hunkered down for another night outside in the dark. Officials said the quake killed at least 246 people and injured more than 2,500 along Ecuador's coast. Vice President Jorge Glas said the toll was likely to rise because a large number of people remained unaccounted for, though he declined to say how many. Much damage was reported in the cities of Manta, Portoviejo and Guayaquil, which are all several hundred kilometers from the epicenter of the quake that struck shortly after nightfall Saturday. But the loss of life seemed to be far worse in isolated, smaller towns closed to the center of the earthquake. In Pedernales, a town of 40,000 near the epicenter, soldiers put up a field hospital in a stadium where hundreds of people prepared to sleep outside for a second straight night. Downed power cables snaked across the streets with no prospect of electricity being restored soon, making it unsafe for many to return to their homes. The town's mayor said looting broke out Saturday night amid the chaos but with the arrival of 14,000 police and soldiers to towns in the quake zone the situation appeared more under control. President Rafael Correa, who cut short a trip to Rome to oversee relief efforts, declared a national emergency and urged Ecuadoreans to stay strong. "Everything can be rebuilt, but what can't be rebuilt are human lives, and that's the most painful," he said in a telephone call to state TV before departing Rome for Manta. More than 3,000 packages of food and nearly 8,000 sleeping kits were being delivered Sunday. Ecuador's ally, Venezuela, and neighboring Colombia, where the quake was also felt, organized airlifts of humanitarian aid. The European Union, Spain, Peru and Mexico also pledged aid. Rescuers scrambled through ruins in the provincial capital Portoviejo, digging with their hands trying to find survivors. "For God's sake help me find my family," pleaded Manuel Quijije, 27, standing next to a wrecked building. He said his older brother, Junior, was trapped under a pile of twisted steel and concrete with two relatives. "We managed to see his arms and legs. They're his, they're buried, but the police kicked us out because they say there's a risk the rest of the building will collapse," Quijije said angrily as he looked on the ruins cordoned off by police. "We're not afraid. We're desperate. We want to pull out our family."

I have been closely watching and tracking large earthquakes over the past 10 years and I already knew that the claim that there has been no increase in the past 50 years was inaccurate. I use the USGS site to do my own research:

Have been watching Yellowstone over the past few months. Thousands of earthquakes, mostly small in nature, but swarms that indicate something is happening. Last night into early morning this morning a 5.2 Magnitude plus 42 smaller aftershocks!

7.1 earthquake this afternoon just 100 miles south of Mexico City. Massive destruction, injuries and potentially widespread fatalities. Natural disasters are now coming so fast and furious, the ability to effectively deal with the loss of life, destruction of property and aid and relief to survivors in so many locations is overwhelming the governments and the agencies that specialize in disaster relief, like the Red Cross. Even with all of the money raised recently, the need is too great.

Ready1, that 6.1 that just happened, was very near the same location as the Mag. 9 quake that struck Japan in 2011. Also this afternoon, 6.4 quake in Vanuatu and a 6.1 quake today in Aukland, New Zealand!! I check the USGS Earthquake site daily and things have really been increasing in frequency and intensity over the past 30 days.
