The Missing Secretary General — What Holly Thinks

The page for the secretary general has been suddenly removed from the Western European Union’s Web site — with no press release or word of explanation.

Javier Solana’s term as secretary general was set to expire Nov. 24. During the next couple of days, all signs of Solana and the secretary general position have disappeared from the WEU Web site. But, apparently, no new person has been chosen to replace him yet. Does this mean — as it appears to mean — that Solana will no longer head the WEU? If so, will someone new lead it? Will the 10-nation alliance continue?

Stay tuned?
