What does the discovery of a 47 million-year-old primate skeleton have to do with the end times? More than you might think.

The media is heralding the discovery of a fossilized lemur monkey, claiming it could be the evolutionary ancestor of humans. Sky News, from the U.K., went so far as to declare the fossil the “missing link” between animals and humans that “confirms Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution.” Read it here. The Wall Street Journal, however, offered a much more temperate view of the fossil as just a “possible ancestor of higher primates.” Read it here.

Some Christians may get shaken in their faith when they hear about discoveries like this one. Yet, we need to realize that, right before Christ’s return, spiritual deception will increase.

Satan is going to throw out every obstacle he can to undermine your faith in the Bible. But before you throw out your faith, when it comes to the theory of evolution here are some important things to keep in mind.

First, many alleged “missing links,” like this fossil, have been discovered through the years – which were later found to be misidentifications or frauds. Take, for example, Cro-Magnon Man (now known to have been an early human, not an ape-human) or Piltdown Man (revealed as a hoax).

Second, if evolution is true then we should expect to see not just one “missing link,” but millions of fossils in transition between one form of life and another. Yet, that’s not what the fossil records show. The scientists who found the fossil admit that, until its discovery, the fossil records have been “incomplete.” In fact, one of them, professor Jorn Horum of Norway’s National History Museum – in bragging about the significance of the find — makes this shocking admission about the fossil records:

“They are so broken there’s almost nothing to study and now this wonderful fossil appears and it makes the story so much easier to tell, so it’s really a dream come true.”

But if this is true – if by scientists’ own admission the fossil record has been “so broken there’s almost nothing to study” — then why have the schools taught evolution as fact?

Third, even if evolution were proven to be true and human beings did evolve from lower life forms, this wouldn’t disprove God’s existence. Evolutionists still have to answer the question of where the original ingredients for life – and where our universe — came from. Why is there something rather than nothing at all? The only logical answer is that God created it.

So, be prepared for intense attacks on Christianity in these last days. Don’t believe something just because the media or scientists say so. Do your homework to see if what they say is really so.
