KERRY CLAIMS: ONLY 53% OF CHILDREN GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL

Postby DP on Wed Feb 01, 2006 5:53 am

Quote:
Sen. John Kerry claimed this morning on NBC TODAY that only 53% of America's children graduate from high school -- a claim that raised eyebrows in the NBC control room, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

Kerry made the comments after host Katie Couric asked the former presidential candidate about the Bush's State of the Union call to train 70,000 additional teachers in math and science.

COURIC: He wanted to train 70,000 additional teachers in math and science.

KERRY: That's terrific. But 53 percent of our children don't graduate from high school. Kids don't have after-school programs... He didn't ask America to sacrifice anything to achieve great goals and the biggest example is making the tax cut permanent for the wealthiest people in America. The average American struggles to find time to take carry of families, working two or three jobs... It's a disgrace. He did not tell the real state of the union.

Kerry's 53% claim conflicts with a recent press release from the U.S. Census Bureau: "High School Graduation Rates Reach All-Time High"

And the Census Bureau's own website states: 85.9 Percent Of Americans Aged 20-24 Are High School Graduates. (U.S. Census Bureau Website, www.census.gov , Accessed 2/1/06)

Kerry voted for the $87 million before he voted against the $87 million. (I couldn't resist!)
I don't see how the 57% figure can possibly be right. I wonder where he is getting his numbers?

Also, I've never met anyone who works 3 jobs, and both my kids' schools have after school care. I don't use the after school care, but it's available if I wanted it.

I just don't think Kerry knows what he's talking about. He grew up rich, and I'm sure his kids probably went to private school.

Kerry is full of beans.

If anything we need to go ahead an go with the school vouchers to get kids OUT of public schools. That will improve their chance of graduation.
Shannon
aka Yuppie Sim
www.YuppieSims.com
Edited by: yuppiesim at: 2/1/06 8:43 am

It's not right, Kerry's crazy. Although 57% probably shouldn't graduate from high school given today's watered down curriculum any idiot can get the social promotion diploma.

Why, failing to allow a child to graduate might hurt their self esteem, no matter what their grade!

I could be wrong, but I think it was Algore who said he invented the internet.
---------------
I simply cannot understand how Kerry, Gore, and those on the left can think the way they do. How can they believe the stuff they keep saying?
It's very simple really.

They are the political elite of the grandest nation in the world.

They are attempting to become the political elite of the entire world.
People on the left want to make the rules for all the rest of us. But if they don't like how the rules would apply to them, they just exempt themselves.

A good example is Kerry complaining about the public schools. He doesn't know what he is talking about. With as much money as Kerry has, I guarantee you that his daughters never spent a single day in public schools. They probably went to some elite, expensive private school.

These kind of people complain about the schools, but they usually haven't bothered to kind out the facts. If only 53% of students were graduating from public schools, somebody would have declared a national educational emergency by now.
