Quote:
TEHRAN (AFP) - Iran said it was poised to retaliate against the reporting of its disputed nuclear programme to the Security Council by kick-starting sensitive fuel work and blocking UN inspections.

In a barrage of threats that raise the stakes in the long-running dispute, firebrand President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also vowed his country would "continue on the road to victory" and labelled US President George W. Bush a warmonger who should be put on trial.

"If Iran's case is referred or reported to the Security Council ... Iran's cooperation will decrease," top national security official Ali Larijani told a news conference on Wednesday.

"The government will be obliged to remove suspensions, which includes industrial-scale enrichment, and it will do so," he said, asserting that a massive enrichment plant at Natanz in central Iran was "ready for operation".

"Inspections will be restricted. They will not have the right to go to military sites which we had so far allowed them to go to. Some of their cameras will be taken down," Larijani said of the now three-year-old International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) investigation of the country.

Iran says it only wants to enrich uranium to make reactor fuel, but the process can be extended to make weapons-grade material. Tehran prompted the current crisis by resuming enrichment research on January 10.

The warnings came as world powers including Russia agreed on a draft IAEA resolution that would report Iran to the Security Council, which has the power to impose sanctions.

The Vienna-based IAEA's 35-nation board is to consider the resolution on Thursday.

British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said Iran should "see this agreed position by the leaders of the international community not as a threat but as ... a final opportunity for Iran to put itself back on track".

But Larijani said Iran "does not see any rationale to stop nuclear fuel research, even for one day" -- ruling out the one move that could save it from ending up in New York.

"Those who possess stocks of nuclear arms meet together and take decisions and think that the Iranian people will submit to their decisions," Ahmadinejad fumed earlier in a speech in the south of the country.

"Our people will not bow to a few tyrannical countries who think they are the whole world," said Ahmadinejad, accusing world powers of treating Iranians like "a second-rate people with no culture".

He also lashed out at US President George W. Bush, who in his State of the Union address branded the Islamic republic "a nation now held hostage by a small clerical elite that is isolating and repressing its people".

"You who support the Zionist puppet regime, you who support the destruction of Palestinian homes, you have no right to talk about liberty or human rights," shouted Ahmadinejad, who has already called for Israel to be "wiped off the map" or moved as far away as Alaska.

"God willing, in the near future we will judge you in a people's tribunal," he said of Bush.

Larijani also appeared to be bracing for an escalation of the crisis, saying Iran was no longer even insisting on having more time for negotiation "because we have prepared ourselves for another scenario".

He said his talks earlier Wednesday with Russian and Chinese deputy foreign ministers also failed to bear fruit: "They had a point of view on solving the issue, but we had a different point of view."

"The last time they talked of sanctions, the price of oil increased," he said of the threat of tough UN action, adding: "Do not play with the national pride of Iranians. The situation will change and your interests in the region will be in danger."

In recent weeks Iran has been brandishing its close links with the Palestinian militant group Hamas, Lebanon's Hezbollah and firebrand Iraqi Shiite cleric Moqtada Sadr.

"Any aggression against Iran's peaceful nuclear installations will receive an extremely quick and destructive response from the armed forces", Iran's Defence Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar also warned.

The warning came just days after the head of the Revolutionary Guards also issued a reminder that Iran had ballistic missiles capable of hitting Israel and US bases in the region.

Iran claims it is cooperating fully with an IAEA investigation, although the latest IAEA report shows Tehran refusing to give agency inspectors all the information or interviews they want and possessing a document whose only use would be in making nuclear weapons.

Larijani played down the importance of the document, saying it "can be found on the Internet".

Well the meeting is tomorrow. Makes you wonder though, what in the world could Iran possibly do? I think they will attack the Saudi Oil fields. Maybe try and blow them up. I just don't see what else they could do. An all out attack on Iraq? No likely. Attack Israel, perhaps, but I just don't think they could do much to them. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I know the Bible tells us what is going to happen, but it doesn't say how.
---------------
How would Satan retaliate? By attacking God's people.

I think it's very possible that Iran could announce any day now that they have nuclear weapons. And I wonder why the US and/or Israel doesn't hurry up with an attack on Iran's nuclear sites.

Another possibility is that they could attack Saudi Arabia, as mentioned above. And Iran threatened just recently to shut down the Persian Gulf, which their navy could probably do. Almost all the oil in that area passes through the Persian Gulf. Iran could also mine the Persian Gulf and blow up oil tankers.

What we don't know is how aggressive Iran is willing to be. If they attack anybody or shut down the Persian Gulf, the US will have to respond.

I have a question...well maybe a couple.

the Iranian defense minister said any attack on its 'peaceful' -_-' nuclear facilities will result in a counter attack using massive quick military force. presumably against Us bases and Israel.

If this has ANY prophetic significance at all...wouldnt that mean they would have to travel through Iraq first to get to Israel?

I mean, we have troops in Iraq, we aint gonna just let some army come marchin through right?

Or is it that Iran invads Iraq.
Kicks the living daylights out of the US military.
Forces US forces to retreat to Israel.
And just when It seems that Iranian military might (along with a possible coalition of nations) can defeat the US and Israel in one blow.....BAM!!!! GOD steps in and the invasionary force is annihilated =)
Big End time prophecy #2 fulfilled....

any thoughts on just how overconfident Iran might go about getting its army to the Israeli Mountains?

I think they would need to go through Iraq, although I'm not 100% certain of that. I wonder if we are prepared for that scenario if it happens.

It's hard to know just how far Iran would be willing go. We don't know if their president is sane or crazy. He keeps saying such outrageous things.

Edited by: sherrimae at: 2/1/06 5:45 pm

Doesn't do any good to worry about it. Not a person on this earth can stop what God puts in motions. I don't know if this is it or not. I think it would be too soon if 2010 is the mid point - based on current events and our "fig tree blooming" signs (EU, ENP, etc.).

I have seen a versus noted on this forum many times that say basically that God has put a hook in the mouth of Persia and leads them to their destruction. God is in charge, not Satan.

Ezekiel 38:3-5 (New International Version)

3 and say: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against you, O Gog, chief prince of [a] Meshech and Tubal. 4 I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army—your horses, your horsemen fully armed, and a great horde with large and small shields, all of them brandishing their swords. 5 Persia, Cush and Put will be with them, all with shields and helmets,

Revelation speaks of 1/3 of people on earth dying. Some say this happened in WW2 when 1/3 of the ships at sea were sunk by the Nazis. If not, then a nuke could certainly accomplish this in the future.

We must also consider this:

Daniel 8:4
[qote]4I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.[/quote]

Daniel 8:20

Quote:
20The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia.

Daniel 11:2

Quote:
2And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.

Based on this, we know without a doubt that Persia (Iran) is going to conquer North, South and West. This means Europe in same fashion is going to be conquered. Persia is going to have thier way for a little while. There will be no stopping them until:

Daniel 8:5-7

Quote:
5And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.

6And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power.

7And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with choler against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.
Quote:

So we know that somebody within Europe will stand up and defeat the Persian King, but only after the Persian King has conquered and destroyed. This person who arises out of Europe will then go to rule Europe for a time before he dies. Now this may sound crazy, but for some reason Prince Harry keeps popping into my head.

Also important are Ezekiel 38 and 39 as I think those chapters are refering to this same war, but with a little more detail as to who will be involved, mainly Russia.

In any event, just my feeling. I guess we'll have to watch and pray together. Who knows for sure what is going to happen,

---------------
