Quote:
Richard Cohen's brilliant book shows the TRUTH about homosexuality - it's not innate, nor benign, nor unchangeable. Even a famous gay rights activist like Andrew Sullivan (who writes for the New York Times Magazine Section) admits that Freud was right when he called homosexuality "arrested sexual development."

Those misinformed about this subject should read Andrew Sullivan's latest book, Love Undetectable, in which he honestly discusses his extensive research about homosexuality and his inevitable conclusion that Freud was right.

Sullivan admits that five years of extensive psychotherapy would probably be enough for many individuals to transition to heterosexuality.

Why is this information being "BLACKED-OUT" by the media?

It is tragic to know that the average homosexual male dies 30 years earlier than the average heterosexual male - how can this possibly be a normal lifestyle? Why doesn't the therapeutic and medical community care about these men and how can they possibly believe this self-destructive lifestyle is caused by homophobia?

EVERY parent I know who has a homosexual child deals with almost unbearable pain when they think of their child's lifestyle. Many say, "What can I do? I have to accept it." Now, because of brave men like Richard Cohen, there is something the parents can do.

Buy Mr. Cohen's book for everyone they know and buy a copy for their library. There is hope but only if grieving parents speak the truth - parents must come out of their closet - the world needs to learn the truth - homosexuals can and do change.

We need more and better therapies to help those unhappy with the false identity of homosexuality - not a politically correct steam roller which flattens anyone who speaks out about the unfulfilling nature of same-sex relationships. Our common sense tells us that God, nature, and evolution all point to the male and female design of all the animal kingdom - humans are no exception!

Let's reach out with love and help those who struggle with same-sex attractions and teach their families that homosexuality is a family problem, not an individual problem - no parent should ostracize a homosexual child because the parent was inadvertently a part of the problem in the first place. Family healing is imperative and Richard Cohen points the way.
Sid, you know this is interesting, however, how do we explain the married man who has been married umpteen years and goes against the vows of his marriage? I know that Biblically speaking, if they are married in the sight of God they will uphold their binds of committed marriage through God and Christ Jesus....but what of those who fall away from their marriage and turn to this sinful lifestyle? Just food for thought as I recall prominent businessmen, clergy, and teachers all who seemed happily married one day turn to this sinful life...very sad and sick.

Peace and Blessings,
carpentersdaughter:

Thank you for the kind words.

In today's search to balance God's grace with God's truth, exposing the problems with today's views of homosexuality gets answered with accusations of hate speech and homophobia.

The word homophobia has been heavily freighted by the gay activists to describe any kind of opposition to homosexuality, the gay lifestyle and the gay political agenda.

So allowing the gay activists to define the terms, the discussion is no longer on the sordid details, morality, and appropriateness of the homosexual lifestyle BUT on the attitude [bias] that people have about homosexuality.

Does anyone really believe that disapproval of [I am leaving out the sordid details of these sick perversions] is based on ignorant, irrational bigotry?

Homosexuality can and should be soundly rejected on moral, ethical, medical, public health and Scriptural grounds.
Bishop I knew personally when I attended grammar school at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Rochester, N.Y. held a mass for gays and lesbians and their families in 1997. Now that makes me wonder what the RCC's position is on homosexuality if a Bishop can do this. He gave his permission for the sermon to be posted on the web.

Here's the preface:

"On Saturday, 1 March 1997, Bishop Matthew Clark of Rochester celebrated Mass with lesbian and gay Catholics, and their families and friends. One of the Vatican2 e-mail forum subscribers sent us the transcript, noting that "From all the reports I've heard of the Mass, it was AWESOME, with nearly 1100 people turning up. I'm forwarding the text of his homily which friends in Rochester e-mailed me. It is beautiful and worth sharing. We definitely need more bishops like Matthew Clark. Go Matt! " I subsequently asked for and received permission by Bishop Clark to post the homily on the WWW.

From the Assembly of God position paper:

Quote:
Of fundamental importance for every individual, including those who struggle with homosexual temptation or behavior, is the need for reconciliation with God through His Son Jesus Christ.

Believers who struggle with homosexual temptations must be encouraged and strengthened by fellow Christians (Galatians 6:1,2).

Likewise, they should be taught that temptation is universal, that temptation itself is not sin, and that temptation can be resisted and overcome (1 Corinthians 10:13; Hebrews 12:1-6).

The moral imperatives of Scripture are incumbent upon all persons. However, believers should not be surprised that unbelievers do not honor God and do not recognize the Bible as a rightful claim on their lives and conduct (1 Corinthians 1:18 ).

Peter writes clearly of the conflict and contrast between believer and unbeliever in his first letter:

Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin. As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do; living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation, and they heap abuse on you. But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. (1 Peter 4:1-5)

As Christians we must both exhort believers to live in moral purity and express in word and deed Christ's love for the lost.

Aware of the claims of God on every aspect of our lives, we must emphasize that we are called to holiness.

To unbelievers we must reach out with compassion and humility.

We must hold no malice toward, or fear of, homosexuals --such attitudes are not of Christ.

At the same time we must not condone sexual behavior God has defined as sinful.
